How does someone "accidentally" have sex? So, there you are, minding your own business just walking down the sidewalk, trip over something, fall ontop of someone else, nether-parts happen to become ummmm.... connected...and woo-hoo "it was an accident?"

"Only you, ma petite, could keep having such accidental sex".
I've been reading amazon reviews of this book all morning and laughing my pants off.

Ok, so the Unfortunate Miss Fortunes wasn't MUCH of a suspense. But I'm counting it anyway. Its one of those novels with 2 or 3 interweaving stories by different authors. This is the story of 3 sisters who have magical talents and the effort of their aunt to steal their powers and, possibly to kill them. Auntie Xan did kill the girls' parents, and that's when the oldest sister, then 16, took the 2 younger ones and went on the run. Its now 13 years later and time for things to come to a head. 3.5 stars. Jennifer Crusie is the only one of the 3 authors of this book that I had read, and I like her light, breezy way of handling cozies.

Just finished Bloodfever by Karen M. Moning, and I liked it better than the first. Bloodfever was much darker than Darkfever, and moved at what I thought to be a much faster pace. I can also appreciate the tension between the two main characters, and appears there may be a love triangle developing down the road; those are always fun. Lastly, there's something to be said about cliff hanger endings, and so far, I think Karen M. Moning has done those very well in the Fever series. I'm looking forward to getting the third book as soon as the bookstore opens tomorrow.

Ok The Daughters Grimm was only sort of historical, meaning that it was set in the past. But absolutely no effort was made--other than throwing in a few "historical" characters (many of whom didn't even live at the same time) and uses carriages instead of horses and having long gowns--to actually set this in historical times. But I'm counting it as my historical anyway. :oP Its another of Minda Webber's amusing stories about "historical" families and the daughters who don't exactly fit into the family. This is the third of them I've read (after Miss Frankenstein and Miss Van Helsing.) Minda does enjoy beating really bad puns and comparisons to death. But it was still amusing in many ways. A quick, light read. Would be good to take to the beach (or anywhere else you go on vacation) as it doesn't take any real effort and requires no thought to read and finish it. 3.5 stars.

Swimsuit: This book was not the norm for James Patterson, you can tell that from the beginning. The murder and carnage is in your face the first few chapters and leaves you with images you wish you could forget. A good book, but strange.

Yes, I gave all three of the finished books 4 stars. They were all really good. I liked second skin better the the previous book in that series. I like where she is taking the series.
I have heard mixed reviews for Santa Olivia, I LOVED IT. A great original story. I thought that book had a lot to say about the current attitude towards Mexico, immigrants and Swine flu! Hard to believe it was written before the swine flu outbreak huh!
The Simon Green book, I really like the gritty world and the gritty detective and Shotgun Suzie, well, its all GOOD.

Melissa,
I see you gave Grimspace 5 stars! I too enjoyed it a lot. What'd you love? Just curious. "
Everything! I loved every single second of this book! I loved how her figures of speech were "space like". Like "frag that" and "what the frag" and other fun new slang words. She's such an awesome writer that I totally understood all of her "spacey" things and "got" her world right from the beginning. All the characters were fun to read about and I loved that she wasn't afraid to kill some off. This was the first book in a long time that I was just reading and letting it all play out without trying to guess where things are going. You know how some authors repeat things to kind of clue you in on what you should have picked up by that point? That always distracts me and I loved that she just told the story so I could just enjoy it. I loved the pilot/jumper connection. It added that bit of romance amongst the action and it was the perfect amount. I have the second book, but I want to "digest" this one a bit more before I jump into it. I don't want to forget anything I read in this and when I move on to the next book in a series, I tend to blend the stories together. I've already ordered her other books from Amazon based just on this book! I've owned this book for awhile and bought it because of the recommendations here on goodreads. I have NO idea why I waited so long to read it! This is definitely my favorite book of 2009 so far.

To those who are wondering why I haven't done an update yet, I'm just letting everybody know that I'm in a middle of an unexpected move. Right now, all my free time is used up doing apartment hunting and viewing. Then I will deal with the not-so-pleasant task of packing. So my computer time is pretty limited.
However, just keep posting your results and when I find a free moment, I'll do an update.
I hope everybody are enjoying reading their challenge books!

Finished Some Girls Bite: A Chicagoland Vampires Novel last night and it was fantastic! I love the new world that Chloe Neill has built and Merit is an awesome character. I can't wait to read the next in the series now!
4 down, 5 to go!

Martina--I too have the next one on my wish list. You are aware that if you pre-order it then you get an EXTRA discount on the price, right? I usually go in two days before the book is due out and pre-order it. That way I get the discount AND don't forget that I've ordered it. I pre-ordered one of Janet Evanovich's Plum books about a month before it was due and forgot that I did, or I pre-ordered it AGAIN. I had 2 books come in at the same time. So now I wait til a couple of days before.
