I really fell in love with You Slay Me. I laughed out loud several times. I never thought it would end the way that it did...I won't spoil it for those of you who might not have read it yet. The ending definitely made you want to read the second one to see how things will play out with Aisling. By the way Rene the taxi driver and her Demon Jim are HA-larious!
I've had a really hard time getting into the Sookie Stackhouse books, but with all the good reviews, and the prompting from my sister, I've pushed through. Now that I've finished the third I've got to say it is my favorite of the series so far. I'm really a fan of Eric - Go Team Eric, lol! So this time I'm really looking forward to reading the next book.

After changing my sci-fi choice three times, I decided on Nalini Singh's Caressed by Ice. I've only read the first three books of her Psy-Changeling series thus far, and she's become one of my favorite authors. When I first started reading, I didn't think I'd like it as much as the first two, but I was wrong. There were some parts that were repetitve, like the hero's constant internal struggle; I thought it dragged on for a bit, but the overall story was excellent in my opinion. Singh tastefully introduces new characters, while characters reappear from the previous novels. I've been recommending this series to anyone who'll listen. I think that anyone who's enjoys sci-fi romance will really enjoy this series.

Well, I've changed my scifi--the one I'd picked to read I couldn't get into because it felt a little confusing. I finally went to Amazon and checked it out and discovered that it was the middle book in a trilogy. And, since I got it from the library I went back to that to reserve the others and guess what--my library only has that ONE book in the series. So, anyway, rather than feel totally frustrated, I decided to just read something else. Now, if I can just find the TIME to get these last 2 books read.

1. Romance:
2. Urban Fantasy:
I was so glad to finally get another of SK's books in my hand when this came out! It didn't disappoint. This book answered many questions and filled in the blanks to the earlier novels in the series. So if like me, you felt the short stories about Fang, Vane and Fury before left you still thirsty. You will now be quenched... for a little while. You meet new characters in the book, keep your eye out for
3. Fantasy:
4. Historical:
This is a fantastic Para-Historial romance series. Each of the 7 books in the series are worth the read. The writing style is similar to JR Ward, BDB.
5. Futuristic/Sci-Fi:
6. Young Adult:
I tried so hard NOT to read this series and expecting to hate it. I'm a hardcore Laurell K Hamilton fan and prefer the more intense vampire/paranormal novels. But alas, I saw the movie and yeilded to the calling of the Twilight.... and I loved the book. Now I'm hooked and reading the series.
7. Chick Lit:
8. Erotic: ,s>The Nymph King, Gena Showalter
9. Horror:
Swimsuit: This book was not the norm for James Patterson, you can tell that from the beginning. The murder and carnage is in your face the first few chapters and leaves you with images you wish you could forget. A good book, but strange.

Lori, have you read Lynn Flewelling? Luck in the Shadows and Stalking Darkness might do for both. The M/M romance is only hinted at in the first book, but becomes obvious in the 2nd. There's also a 3rd book, which I didn't read

Well, my SciFi is finished. It was a humourous one. (Sorry, been in the mood for only humour this month) Its set in the not so far future (2066 to be exact.) And the main character is the last PI in the world. Computers pretty much rule everything, there are humans, mutated humans, robots and clones everywhere. Somewhat derivative, but then again, with this category (humour) that seems to be the case. I gave it 4 stars. (oh, did I mention there is now only ONE Holiday (yes, with a capital H) and its ruled by Santana, a female version of Santa. The Elves were genically created and are all clones of 1 male and 1 female. Someone has killed 2 Elves at the North Pole and Santana has come to Zachery Nixon Johnson, our intrepid PI to solve the mystery (and, incidently, save the Holiday AND the world--again)

The YA was a fantasy that was set in England during the "Irish Troubles". The heroine was a 10 year old Irish girl who was staying with a cousin while her father was in prison for acting against the English in Ireland. The Dogsbody that is referred to in the title is the intelligence that lives in the green giant Sirius. He's been banished to earth because he was accused of a murder of the intelligence from another star. He has to find the Zoi (a kind of gizmo is the best I've been able to figure) and by doing that he'll prove (how isn't exactly explained) that he didn't commit the murder. Anyway, he is popped into the body of a new born puppy--one that is half "normal" puppy and half Hound (the Hounds that ride with the Huntsman in the Wild Hunt.) He is assisted by the intelligence that lives in Sol and by Earth herself. Goodness wins, Sirius proves he didn't do it, and now he's waiting for Kathleen to grow up (she's 12) and agree to become the intelligence inhabiting his Companion star. A solid 5 star read.

I really enjoyed You Slay Me by Katie Macalister. I don't think I've ever read anything in the paranormal genre that I found so good humored and light hearted. Not only that, but it had the mystery and romance pieces in addition to an ending that was so unpredictable that I've already purchased book 2 in the Aisling Grey series, and will be looking into other works by Katie Macalister; the TBR pile just keeps on growing.

Ok, I don't know how many of you would have put the Kenyon into Eroitica, but I'm not a real big fan of that category, and Kenyon is about as erotic as I like to get. This was actually book 6 of the Dark Hunters series (and can we all say there is some seriously mixed up numbering going on in that series?) Its one that I had missed before, and that I'd been looking for. I finally found a battered copy at Goodwill and picked it up for 50cents. I thought this one should have been in the Were-hunters category, since there are very few vamps killed, and except that Ash and Simi (gotta LOVE that demon) appear in it a couple of times, as well as a few ex-Dark Hunters and "regular" Dark Hunters, I didn't really think it fit that category. Its more an "ok, I have THE most disfunctional family on the planet" type story. I really do LOVE Fang, Vane and Fury. And I think that Mum and Dad got their cumuppence at the end. I think that (except for Asheron) this is probably my fav of the full length novels that revolve around the Dark Hunters/Were-hunters. That might be because I really identified with Bride. I too am a plus sized woman and am sssoooo sick of the size 2 being what everyone wants to see on screen, modeling clothes, able to BUY clothes off the rack.
(coughing in embarassment) Ok, sorry about the mini-rant there.

Charlotte,
I really did not like Jennifer Government. It was way too commercial which I know was the idea of the book being set in a world where name brands are more important than the government. The big thing was there just weren't enough characters that I admired or cared about so the story line was not well driven. It was a struggle to finish.

Yeah, it was a great surprise. I read a lot of vampire books and it's nice to read one where it feels like a fresh idea again. I loved that Merit wasn't too stubborn or whiny - she didn't immediately accept everything but she didn't bitch and moan for chapters and chapters like so many characters do. She's smart, strong, funny, and totally likable. I hope this series goes on for a long time!
The second one is on my wishlist and I'll more than likely get it from work when it comes out - the employee discount is a wonderful thing ...
