I was just going to set up a buddy read for February 12th. Does that sound good to you, Danielle, Aly, Lu, and Victoria?
And good luck to you, too, Danielle and Aly!

BUDDY READ:Paranormal/Fantasy > Daughter of smoke and bone by Laini Taylor - Restarting January 20th 2016

Sounds good to me, and thanks for telling me where to find the book :)
Sorry I'm asking questions all the time, but I don't want to mess anything up :S I've found threads for some books I want to read (Cinder and Red queen) but they were set for January or December, can I ask the mods in that thread to reset it or do I have to find people to read it with me first?
I'm going to ask in the wanted readding buddies thread about the books I'm gonna be reading, I just want to know if I should add those too or not?

Hey, I don't know what you guys have been arranging but I am going to answer you question to make everything clear.
If you want to buddy read, you can first comment on the Wanted Reading Buddies thread. There are many people writing on there so there is a really big possibility u find a buddy. After you have arranged a date for both of u to start reading a book you can go to the thread which is up for this month (e.g. January 2016) and ask the mods to add the book to the date so every one who opens the calendar (which is on the thread) will see that there is a BR happening on this date and may join! :) From there, after adding your book to the date, the mods will reset the thread and you can read happily with your buddy after that! :)

Oh! I know Aly~ I think I may have another BR that day but I'll catch up a day or two after so no worries from my end! & Yeesss, 24th is perfect! Thanks TJ :)
@Lu: Don't worry! Ask all the questions you need to! I'm not exactly an expert but I've been around this group for a while now haha. Like Mickey said, you need to go to Wanted: Reading Buddies (it's a thread) and go to the latest page and bam! There will be a couple people asking or discussing dates. You definitely need to find someone to read with you first like the two members above did with us.
The Mods have to reset the thread for a particular book for you though. In this particular challenge, if you buddy read a book for a category you get bonus points! Which is why I've set mine up haha~

Thank you for the explanation @Mickey and @Victoria!! I'm starting to understand how this works hehe :)

Oh, sorry, Victoria, I overlooked that buddy read of yours on the 12th. I could push back our start day a couple of days. But I don't think it will really matter -- like I mentioned before, I like to read multiple books at the same time, so I don't whip through these buddy reads like some others... I'm sure you'll catch up and then pass me up... ;)

Thank you for the explanation @Mickey and @Victoria!! I'm star..."
no problem at all!

Hi Lu,
I decided to let the experts (Mickey & Victoria) answer that question because this is only my second month doing the cyber-buddy-read thing.
What I have experienced is that it's better if you and your buddy/group are reading roughly around the same time -- that makes the whole experience more enjoyable. I had that experience with Illuminae and it was too much fun. We were helping each other stay calm and not throw our books/laptops against the wall!
But I also had the experience where I jumped in after the others were mostly finished and, while some replied to my comments, most had moved on and I felt so alone out there in cyber-space...
Then there are the series read-alongs -- and I think Cinder is one of those. In those discussions, people are at all different stages, it seems. Sometime they set goals for each book in the series, but more often what I've noticed is that everyone just reads at his/her own pace.

That works. Thanks! Good luck to you too!

Thanks, Aly!
I wish we could include you and Danielle as honorary members of the team! Which team are you on?
Looking forward to reading and discussing with you all!

Haha~ Yeah, I don't mind! I usually read books in one or two sittings so I'll probably get to it a day or two after it's fine :)

@Lovetoread: Yay! Please take a look at the chart I put up in Message 22. We thought that if everyone committed to taking 4 or 5 A-spots, we can complete the challenge at least once. Take a look at the A-spots that are still available and let us know if any of them work for you. You can take as many of the B-D spots as you like -- no commitment, if you get to them, you get to them. Buddy reads get us double points, so we've been trying to set up buddy reads for all our books.
Happy Reading!

Thanks, Lovetoread!
btw, I love to read too!

Hey Manon! Glad you are here! Would you take a look at all our messages, see if you have any books in common for buddy reads and our possible strategies? :)

Welcome, Manon!
Please pick 4-5 books you would like to read and see if they fit any of the categories in the chart I put up in Message 22 (page 1 of this chat discussion). You can see which books the rest of us are reading and if you want to read the same ones, you can join us in some buddy reads. You can choose any book you want that fits into one of the 37 categories.
Take a look at our conversations on this chat page, you can get a lot of answers here.
Preferably, each of us will commit to taking the A-spot in 4 or 5 of the categories -- that way we can complete the challenge at least once. See if you have any books that fit one of the open A-spots and let us know.
Thanks!

ok I have chosen:
a book with a couple on the cover: Eleanor and Park
a book told from a male point: Four a divergent story collection
a book told from a female point: Delilah
a borrowed book: things we know by heart
(I borrowed the book from my best friend)
Am I doing it right because I have really no idea
(sorry for my bad english)

ok I have chosen... Am I doing it right because I have really no idea

Thanks, Manon!
I'll work your books in. You're English is great! The point is to have fun! :D
Happy Reading!

TJ, do you think you'll be able to put you comment (#22 I think..?; the one where we see who is gonna read what for every category) in the description of both this thread and the review one so we see what category we are using? I am so glad you are here to organise all of this! Happy reading!

Hi Manon,
We're trying to fill all the A. spots first (each of us takes 4-5 A-spots). We can move books around at any time. So for now, I've added you to the A-spot for the following:
8.

31.

36.

Which Delilah did you want to read -- I found several.
There's a buddy read set up for Eleanor & Park for Feb. 12th:
BUDDY READ: Contemporary/Romance > Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - Restarting February 12th 2016
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I moved the master chart from Message 22 up to Message 2 at the very top of our chat page for everyone's convenience -- no more scrolling through the jungle of books to find it... ;)

Ha! Mickey -- Great minds think alike! I was just moving the master plan up to the very top of our chat feed when you wrote that comment. (I think this is like the 3rd time we have both commented at the same time, saying similar things...).
And yes, we are doing great!
