I live at the edge of the Heights. I'd like to know what everyone thought of the chapter about the momentous conference in Houston that she describes. I was surprised that I had never heard of it. It made me think Houstonians need to do a better job remembering our rich history of activism.

I agree. I loved the chapter about the Houston Women's Conference.

Since Houston's so big, I'll go with I'm in central Houston. As for the conference, GHWCC hosts one every year. They say they're continuing the spirit of that first one in the 1970s. It has a more local and business focus since it's hosted by a local chamber of commerce. Went last year and it was great. The author of the Good Girls Revolt was a keynote. It's usually let spring and can be pricey. If you volunteer, you can go for free.

Do you know when it is likely to be? I can look it up when I get home but I am at work now.

Anyone still interested in meeting up? I expect the March book will be announced soon! I'd be happy to coordinate, maybe somewhere central since we are scattered around the city?

I would be glad to meet up to discuss The Color Purple or any future books (but I have not read the first book). I am centrally located but don't mind driving if it works for others to meet elsewhere.

I'm so glad to see that there is a Houston meet up! I will be moving there in August and will look forward to hopefully meeting up with everyone then.
