lethe | 16359 comments How do we deal with Hungarian names? I assume Firstname Lastname, or do we stick to Hungarian Lastname Firstname? Case in point: Weisz Györgyi (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... )

In Worldcat, both Weisz Györgyi and Györgyi Weisz are used: http://www.worldcat.org/search?q=au%3...

Should the profile be changed to Györgyi Weisz? The name is now sorted on his first name (Györgyi).

Elizabeth (Alaska) How is the author name published? Asian names have family names first and that is how they are at GR. I would think that if the author is published Weisz Györgyi, that is how the profile should appear, and sorted accordingly under Weisz.

I don't know, he's a translator. He doesn't appear on covers.

As Antonomasia's list shows, Hungarian authors generally appear as Firstname Lastname. I asked because this translator has been consistently added as Lastname Firstname.
