Hello! So yes, this group doesn't allow explocit content in thread but asking for it in thread is allowed.

Yeah I'm new to being a mod but I also understand everyone's concerns as well since I want this to be a safe and fun group for everyone. But next time if anyone has questions I'll be sure to consult with Sarbi, Cheesecake, or Feyre so that we can all come to a fair decision
Hello! So I want a clarification as well. So I understand that mature/sexual rp requests are allowed however I find that to be a bit of a concern since there are children under 18 who are in this group and frequent this group. I know this isn't really my place but I'm sure if I think that mature request shouldnt be allowed in a group where there are so many young people?
Would it help to change the age to over 18 for the group? That way only people over 18 can see the mature requests? I am also aware that there are already groups for 18 plus so I honestly am having a hard time understanding why it would be allowed to ask for sexual content in a public group where they are children.

Hello everyone! So I feel people are allowed to ask for mature roleplays. If no one wants to do it, they simply don’t reply or say no and everyone moves on. Changing age wouldn’t prevent younger people from joining. Any mature scenes get taken to PM’s.
Think of it this way: websites that require age restrictions (YouTube or twitch), people lie about it. This is a public group and anyone can roleplay. Asking for a mature roleplay isn’t out of the ordinary. Just say no or ignore it. There is an equal about of people who want mature, or who dont, or are flexible with either.
We can’t control what groups people join or don’t join, nor are we able to decipher ages.
That's very true. People can lie about their age and what not however I suppose I find it to be a bit concerning that those types of requests are allowed in public groups because it allows younger people to be at risk for possible predatory behavior.
On the other hand I guess it's a double standard because we cannot control the actions of others. I was just trying to consider the safety of minors as well as people who may not want to receive those types of messages. I have seen that when sexual requests are allowed this often causes people to go and add and message multiple people in the group and many of those messages are unsolicited and unwanted.
I am not trying to argue in fact, you do make very good points. However, I am also simply trying to be considerate of the safety of everyone. I have seen claims going around and many people saying that they feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I am simply voicing my concerns and I appreciate your time :)

Yes yes! And I hear you. I get the creepiest of people on my dm’s most of the time, but it just comes down to not being able to control who sees what and who gets involved. The internet sucks that way. And “mature” means sexual scenes, yes, but that’s not all they are. Changing the age means either half of you gotta go, or people can sneak in. We can all just be aware, and ask questions! It’s all about communicating with your rp partner about what goes and what doesnt :)

Like Feyre said, we can't control what people do and don't do. If they are honest about ages or not, I just dislike the idea of a platform I love so much and have been years on, which brings book lovers and writers together, has to have censorship for the sake of it. We of course don't tolerate bullies, disrespect and any mature content is asked to be through pm. And like Feyre said people can always move on from of a mature request if not to their liking.

soooooo, kinda coming back to goodreads after a long break and I'm using the app... I can't find the requests topic in the 1x1 section.
does anyone know how to fix or find that?
it took me a second to find it, i can comment in it if you want
for some reason it doesn't work. probably because it's the app.
so funny thing with the app. if the request topic is attached to the the 1x1 section. it doesn't appear at all on the app. I went through all the topics on the app. no request or pop ups. love the app. just hate how picky it is.
i had the app for a while, still do, but i mostly use my laptop
might have to start doing the same, honestly. lol
