For real fiction... does Sherlock Holmes count? I know, it kind of feels like a cop out... if not, then Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino from The Dirk Pitt Series.

From realistic fiction, that is a bit harder. I guess I'll go with Bishop "Blackie" Ryan and Mike Casey from the Blackie Ryan series by Andrew M. Greeley.

Other than that I think Lisbeth Salander would do a good job ;)

For the fantasy/sci-fi category, I'd go with Isaac Vainio, Lena Greenwood, and Smudge from Libriomancer by Jim C. Hines.
For the realistic fiction, I'd go with the Honourable Phryne Fisher, Detective Inspector John 'Jack' Robinson, and Lin Chung from Murder in Montparnasse by Kerry Greenwood.
