Team We're Bookin' It!

When you have a team name, just let me know and I'll update this thread name :)
First stop - Maraba, Brazil

Your first stop is Maraba, Brazil
You can choose as a team to:
TASK
- Read books set in Brazil, or by Brazilian authors or
- Do a spell-it-out of Maraba or Brazil
OR
You can elect to do the detour, which for this stop, means that four of you need to "Read a book with a Military rank in title (Private, Major, Captain, General, etc)"

I guess we need to decide which task to do first or would doing the detour be a better option?

TASKS
◈ Completing a task will earn the team 10 points AND
◈ If at least 6 members of the team read a book that contributes to the tasks, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points
DETOURS
◈ Completing a detour earns the team 25 points AND
◈ If at least 7 members of the team read a book for the detour, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points
◈ The most points that can be earnt at each stop is 35 points for a task and 50 points for a detour

We need a team name, I am not creative at all so I will leave that to someone else haha
Here are the stops of the trip with their detours, thought it was a good idea to have them listed here although they are in the spreadsheet as well.
We should do 5 detours for max points!
Also, keep in mind that spell it outs for cities/countries with names shorter than 6 letters would make us lost points as well!
1. Maraba, Brazil.
Detour: Read a book with a Military rank in title (Private, Major, Captain, General, etc)
2. Fuerteventura, Spain.
Detour: Read a book with the word magic, sorcery, enchant or divine (plurals are acceptable) in the title
3. Bilbao, Spain.
Detour: Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as ebook - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
4. Patrai, Greece.
Detour: Read a book where a character can see or feel ghosts
5.Bahrain, Bahrain.
Detour: Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter J
6.Alor Setar,Malaysia.
Detour: Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as 2008 - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
7. Roswell, USA.
Detour: Read a book where the Author has the same first name as an Academy Award winning actor/actress
8. Santiago, Dominican Republic
Detour: Read a book where a character has an unusual sidekick

Brazilian authors I know Paulo Coelho(author of The Alchemist) and I have around 10 of his books at home so I could do that task.
No idea of books set in Brazil though there must be some
I am not sure how easy it would be for you all to get books by brazilian authors/based in Brazil..My country is right next to Brazil so thats why its a bit easier for me haha
We could also do a Spell it out of either Maraba or Brazil,6 of us should contribute to that!

Ill also add one for the first stop which we can use to plan out whatever we choose to do!
I hope you all dont mind! Im on summer break and quite bored, feel free to edit anything!

To me, the easiest detours are:
2) Read a book with the word magic, sorcery, enchant or divine (plurals are acceptable) in the title
3) Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as ebook - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
5) Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter J

For now though, we need to decide on a team name(ideas?) and what we will do for Stop 1...Detour, Spell or Read book from Brazil/by brazilian author?

I've read and can recommend

Not sure if the whole book needs to be set there.
In

I'm having trouble finding anything on my to-read list that is set there or by an author from there.

Just depends if we are being competitive or just taking it easy.

Just depends if we are being competitive or just taking it easy."
We could get 35 if all members read a book during the time we are at the stop.
I think we should do the spell out or read a book by brazilian author or in brasil since I have no ideas for the detour.

There are books with General, Major in the titles....
Team name ideas cant come up with anything right now will think about it and be back later....

But, if we end up not doing the detour, I would suggest let 6 people do the spell-out because that would be quicker and the remaining 2 who can get the Brazil books, do that.
That way, we have a definite shot at 35 points in a week, atleast.

Must we all read different books or can they be repeated?
I will look into other books that could work for the detour in a little bit when I get home!
I would like to do it since some of the others are a bit difficult.
EDIT: not really finding a lot! :(

I have a feeling we may find more books with 'Private' than any of the other three words. We basically need 7 books, at the max, to read for the detour.
But we should just buddy up and read the same book(s) if finding books becomes difficult and/or the subject matter/genre doesnt interest anyone.

If we choose this option, it looks like I will have to go with something not already on my TBR. I'll take a look on Scribd and see if anything pops.

Detour? Im up for it, sure I could find something to read
Also,if we do detour we can use some other ranks as well: Colonel,Lieutenant, dont know anymore..

I quickly scanned and nothing pops out to me to read....

El general en su laberinto
(Ill be reading the spanish edition)
Thats 4 of us that can do detour(25 points), we would need at least 7 to get 40 points and then the 8th member could read anything they want for the max points(50)

Bookworms Boarding
Flying Pages
...and thats it xD

Just checking in
my preference would be the spell it out as a quick scan through my books is not popping up with books to do with brazil or with the detour words

also maybe ( again quite cheesy):
Worldly readers
bitten by the book travel bug
globetrotting bookworms

Because spell it out could give us 35 points and Detour with less than 7 people would give us the same number of points.
If 7 of us cant do it, I would rather save that detour for a time when we can go for all 50 points!

So far the people who have said they can read for the detour:
Apoorv
Romina
Joanne
Rosina
Doesn't want to do detour:
Nikk
Still waiting to hear from:
Lindsay
Stacey
Poongothai

Question: Can we do all the detours, or is there a limit?
And I kind of lean towards We're Bookin' It! But whatever the group decides is good for me!
Let me look real quick and see if I can find any privates or majors in my TBR. :)

That being said, though, I need to read the instructions again. Do we *each* have to spell it out? Or just all read within the word and get it covered? This challenge is challenging my brain already, lol!

The other two members would also need to read a book, any book and we get the 35 points
