When Calamity lit up the sky, the Epics were born. David’s fate has been tied to their villainy ever since that historic night. Steelheart killed his father. Firefight stole his heart. And now Regalia has turned his closest ally into a dangerous enemy.

David knew Prof’s secret, and kept it even when Prof struggled to control the effects of his Epic powers. But facing Obliteration in Babilar was too much. Once the Reckoners’ leader, Prof has now embraced his Epic destiny. He’s disappeared into those murky shadows of menace Epics are infamous for the world over, and everyone knows there’s no turning back...

But everyone is wrong. Redemption is possible for Epics—Megan proved it. They’re not lost. Not completely. And David is just about crazy enough to face down the most powerful High Epic of all to get his friend back. Or die trying.

I am insanely excited for this! Reading Bands of Mourning now and I'm already looking forward to my next Sanderson read. :D

I will most likely be getting this and Mistborn on the same day (Feb 16)! WOO! I love Brandon Sanderson!

I'm really excited to finish this series. I'll be beginning in a sec =)

Still waiting for it to come. It should be here today, if not I'll be mad and might have to go buy it at the bookstore. I want it now!

Anyways, I'm super excited to finish as well. I just hope I can remember enough of the first two since I wasn't able to reread them. :)

I'm just annoyed because Bands of Mourning came a day late, even though they said release day delivery. It seems that Calamity is out for delivery and should be coming in a bit, but if not that's just going to annoy me!

I hope you get it soon. Not to torture you or anything, but the cover is so colourful and bright xD

I've completed nine chapters. I've got to study for a test, so I'll only get a few chapters more today.

Got ya. I'll try not to finish the book in one sitting. Also, I think it's amazing that you keep up with reading and school. I never could.

I have to practice a lot of time management :)
But anyway. These are my thoughts so far for the first ten chapters.
(view spoiler)[I was super relieved when David said that they were going to turn Prof instead of kill him. Poor Prof can't control himself and I always thought he should be given a chance. So, yay!

And I'm finally starting to warm up to Megan. I never really liked her before, but I'm reading her differently now. But maybe that's just because it's been a while since the last book and I've forgotten my reasons for disliking her, hehe.
But no. She's a strong character and the way she faces her fears is really admirable. (hide spoiler)]

David is just as dorky as I remembered! Sometimes I have to wonder just how he got the girl in the end xD

And the only way I can see this book ending is David and co somehow killing Calamity. Maybe that will turn the Epics back to normal or stop them from going dark? I dunno...

I would totally date David. :D haha.

Just finished part one. I'm thinking something has to happen with Calamity, but I have no idea what. I feel like there will definitely be some surprises there.

(view spoiler)[I just don't know how things will work with Prof. I'm glad they're trying to save him, but how sill he react? And if he killed Tia...everyone else was already really bad, with that on top of it it would be insane.

I've always really liked Megan. I like how her and David play off each other. And they're a cute couple, without it turning into an angsty teen soap opera. Which rarely happens, so I'm glad Sanderson has stayed away from it. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah! I love that there's not so much drama between Megan and David :)
And I can read as much as I want now! Gonna try to catch up.

I'm not sure...I think that there is still something to come where that's concerned.

Yeah, it just struck me as really weird. And Firefight being able to see him too. Hmm...

Yes, and that's about to get a little weirder. Still have a lot of questions that I'm waiting to be answered there.

But I REALLY love the idea of Ildithia! Seriously, I don't know why I keep being surprised by Sanderson's ingenuity. A city of salt! Maybe not as cool as Babilar, but it's still so imaginative ^.^
And despite his doubts, I think that David is making a fine leader! He doesn't freak out, but willingly accepts that weight on his shoulders. And the crew trusts him, which is nice.
(view spoiler)[I really like the addition of Larcener. He's not evil, which is promising. There's hope for Epics yet! Plus, he's pretty entertaining =)
Also, Megan's powers are totally confusing me. I wonder where it will all go... (hide spoiler)]

His creativity amazes me. Salt, steel, all of this. Not to mention his other books and worlds. It's crazy.

Anyway, definitely agree about David. He takes risks, but they knee to be taken.

That's a great guess! Larcener is so lazy and never wants to do anything, it has to be something like that.
And yep, David is gutsy :)

I just finished part three. Oh. My. Goodness. That was insane! I literally couldn't stop reading. Now I need to share some thoughts...

(view spoiler)[Ok, this other dimension with Firefight and Tavi...So many questions! Steelheart killed David? And what's with Obliteration. He's crazy in both places.

Is Tia really dead? That does not sound good. I mean, it's sad for obvious reasons, but that's gonna destroy Prof.

And David...so he is an Epic, right? And he has some power similar to Steelheart? He can create metal? Some type of force field that repelled the bullets?

And now they're gonna fight Prof with his own powers...yikes. This is gonna be crazy! (hide spoiler)]

Through chapter 37
(view spoiler)[Why couldn't he take her power? And is leeching powers related to his weakness? There is so much I want to knoa about Larcener. (hide spoiler)]

Anyway, time for bed.

So...I finished it. I wasn't even planning to, but I couldn't stop reading. Loved it.

(view spoiler)[So sad that Prof has to deal with losing Tia, but I'm glad he came back to himself and faced his fears.

Larcener! I honestly was not expecting that. Excellently done.

And the whole thing with David being like a new Steelheart and his dad being Steelheart in the other reality was crazy. I liked the end with crazy Obliteration planning to kill another city. Hoping they stop him, of course. But he was always interesting.

And there could totally be more books! Seriously, this does not have to be the end. But I'm alright with his time going morw toward Stormlight. (hide spoiler)]

I'm just through with chapter 37 and things are getting so much more complex!

And I really, really love the prospect of these other dimensions. And Steelheart being an actual hero? David just has to talk to him! I can't wait for that conversation. Ahh, this is such good stuff xD

I know! (view spoiler)[I never. This is where it got crazy. Those chapters leading up to this were impossible to put down. And the last hundred pages are pretty much the same. These other dimensions are insane. And him actually meeting Firefight and talking to him! Crazy. And Tavi. Apparently Prof and Tia have a kid over there. (hide spoiler)]

Ahh Tavi. She's what could have been for them. So sad :(

I just finished this a while ago, and I seriously haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I'm still a little speechless, but I'll try to put some thoughts together.
To me, this was the most perfect ending this book could have had. I loved it loved it loved it :')

And I would totally read a book about Firefight. Totally!

(view spoiler)[Everything from David going to space onward was some of the best reading I've ever done tbh. Larcener being Calamity completely shocked me. Not what I was expecting at all.
And then Prof showing up! And then his dad! It all just sort of made me really emotional :}
And you're right. There are a lot of doors left open. This story can most definitely continue. I'm still confused about Calamity, as I'm sure David still is too xD
And Mizzy is an Epic too! How nice. (hide spoiler)]

Such a phenomenal ending. I had a lot of fun. And it's another Sanderson in the bag! :D

Not totally blown away by Firefight, but I have my suspicions of where this might go - I don't know the author well enough to say if this will go as I think or we'll get a total curveball. I do want to know (view spoiler)[ did David really resist Calamity's attempts to turn him? (hide spoiler)]

First chapter kicks things off with drama - David can't help himself!

Up to ch10. Not sure when you are both getting to this (I know Firefight went on a little longer than we thought) but the start of this is quite intriguing. Love the little drops of info about Prof yet the whole exchange about what each knows of Epics suggests they’re trying things out as they go.

I'm super behind, I'm sorry, but hoping to fly through Firefight tomorrow and get to this one the day after.

I’m trying to return it to the library tomorrow as I have some ready to collect. I’ll keep checking updates as I’m curious to see what you make of it. Liking the focus on Calamity.

Part two. This is a strange place. There’s hints that Prof is still reachable but some of the developments are odd. (view spoiler)[ I’m pleased Tia is back, but I can’t imagine she’ll actually want to kill Prof if she has to. Thinking the appearance of Firefight will be useful, but I’m intrigued about the world with no Calamity. I also think the scanner was wrong-David has to be an Epic, but something allows him to control himself. (hide spoiler)]

Part three. Can’t wait to see what you make of this. (view spoiler)[ The alternate universe scenario suggests Megan may have a twin. Can’t believe Tia was killed - I know she took a risk going for the info but I didn’t think Prof would kill her. That weird moment when David is being shot strongly hints at him having some awesome powers. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Loved the involvement of the tec expert - and also the fact that he was clearly more aware of Prof's limitations than we thought. Didn't like the fact that Tia was saved only to be killed. I was rather surprised by Larcener's final reveal - not least because he seemed so pointless while they were planning what to do. I'm still surprised that more wasn't made of David's ability earlier - but it makes sense for him to need to confront a few things first. It felt right that Prof helped out at the end - these lot definitely make a good time. Still unsure about Megan and Firefight - are they the same character? Are they twins? (hide spoiler)]
