J.S. Ellis (joannewritesbooks) I have been a member for ages this the first group I joined, so I want to introduce myself my name is Joanne from Malta I am an avid reader and an inspiring writer I'm currently writing a thriller. I also have question to you readers, so the character that I created is an alcoholic and a chain smoker she is also married. While her husband was away on a business trip, she goes out with her friend and passes out. She wakes up the next day with no recollection what happened the previous night and with bruises all over body, she believes that something had happened to her. Meanwhile she gets infuriated by a younger man who was there the night she passed out and starts an affair with him. She knows that is wrong and tries to end it but the guy pulls her back in. Now I am worried that my character doesn't come across as likable what you guys think?

Thomas (tom471) | 2006 comments Welcome Joanne. Your character sounds unlikable but human. Do you explain what happened the night she passed out?
My wife and I stopped at Malta a few years ago on a cruise and enjoyed our stop there.

My review of a book with a pregnant woman who still smokes and drinks.

J.S. Ellis (joannewritesbooks) Yes, I do explian what happens to her when she remembers months later than something terrible happens to her husband. It's too long to go over the whole plot over here. It's just something I'm working on.

Glad you enjoyed your stay on the little island thanks for the feedback :) will read your review

Richard Wren (richard_wren) | 13 comments Hi to all: I've been a member for some time but never introduced myself. Quick summary: I'm 90 yrs old, just finished my 4th mystery novel and working on 5th. Started writing at age 82. Also wrote a "how to" book for self publishers. I read 1 or 2 books per week and have reviewed several and enjoy reading and reviewing mystery books. Live in California and spend from 4 to 5 hours daily writing and publicizing. Very lucky to have been interviewed on Channel 5, 3 times (latest 1/30/16) and once on KOFY. Very interested in sharing experiences with authors in like circumstances. (not necessarily age!)
