Exanimis | 183 comments I have been diagnosed as Bi-Polar and suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Dissorder (PTSD) Everything I do comes and goes as it pleases so I may not finish this challenge or I may surpass it, your guess is as good as mine. The best I can do is to set a goal and to try.

Exanimis | 183 comments 6: Red Mars (Mars Trilogy, #1) by Kim Stanley Robinson Red Mars Book 1 of the Martian trillogy. Being a highly scientific look at colonizing mars, Red Mars read more like an instruction manuel. I loved the characters but just as you got to know them the point of view switched to someone else. The second person might not think much of the first and that made it an odd reading experiance. There is only so much you can say about a desert landscape made of red dirt and rocks and there are a lot of landscape discriptions in Red Mars. Even though this was a tedious book to read, I did enjoy most of it and wll read the rest of the trilogy.

Exanimis | 183 comments 7: Blade Runner by Philip K. Dick Blade Runner Blade Runner is my all time favorite movie and has been for many years so I couldn't bring myself to read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Phillup K Dick because I thought it would be like a rerun or rereading something I've already read. I could not have been more wrong, any fan of the movie will find that this book has little to do with it but it is well worth reading.

Exanimis | 183 comments 8: Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1) by Dean Koontz Odd Thomas Book 1 or the Odd Thomas series. I have to admit it, even though I was 48 years old at the time that I read it, I loved the Harry Potter series. I have been searching for another series that I could enjoy every since. I really liked this book and have ordered the next two books in the series, I hope this is the series I have been looking for.

Exanimis | 183 comments 12: Green Mars (Mars Trilogy, #2) by Kim Stanley Robinson Green MarsBook 2 of the Martian trilogy. This is one of those longer books I have mentioned. Learning more about the first 100 (the first to colonize Mars) and getting to know them better is a lot of fun but the book did get longwinded at times. Some events that took place in Red Mars are expanded on and the terraforming of Mars into an Earth like planet continues.

I am half way through the series and I could easily read the remaining volumes but I don't want this series to end. I have been reading books between volumes just to stretch out the Odd Thomas series. I absolutely love the Odd Thomas series and can never say enough about it.

How very odd that I chose to read and quote Shakespeare prior to reading this entry into the OT series.

Exanimis | 183 comments 33: Dune by Frank Herbert DuneIf not for the six day headache that prevented me from reading as much as I would like to have, I would have read this much faster. Dune is a classic that deserves it's status and a must read not only for sci-fi or space opera fans but for anyone who enjoys a beautifully written novel.

Exanimis | 183 comments 34: Odd Apocalypse (Odd Thomas, #5) by Dean Koontz Odd Apocalypse
I have been reading other books between volumes of Odd Thomas because I want this series to last longer. This was the darkest of the series so far and had some triggers for my PTSD but I managed to work around them and enjoy this story. I prefer the lighter feeling of the previous volumes though.

Exanimis | 183 comments 37: Moby-Dick by Herman Melville Moby-Dick
My second reading of this classic. If you are considering reading this, go watch the movie starring Gregory Peck, it's a much better story than this book.
543 boring, long drawn out, overly detailed pages.

Wow! A fascinating look into the history of Mathews County Virginia, the men who sailed in the Merchant Marines during WWII, the determined and proud women they left behind and a gentlemanly face of the U-Boat commanders that I did not expect to find.
