Police procedurals

Some chic lit.

Hi Clare! Welcome!

Lesley Hi. I'm Lesley, I live in Scotland. I found this group by clicking on the 'literature' link in the groups page. I liked the headline, and smiled wryly reading the question about our book shelves and looking at my overcrowded ones. It's hard for me to resist buying a book!

I look forward to reading all your reviews and comments, and sharing views.

Hi Lesley-Anne

I live in a certain seaside town in the NW of England, if you live in Scotland you know the one I mean.

I have 386 books/audiobooks on my GR shelves so I will be kept busy for sometime.

I am also a member of Netgalley, thank god they are E-books or my bookshelves would be creaking under the pressure. I can't help myself.

Best wishes

Lesley Wow, Clare, I am very jealous of your library! I have 134 books on my shelves, but I also have around 100 that ready for the second hand shop. I have dreams of building my own library, but those hundred or so belong to a set of beliefs and ideals that I no longer hold to, so they're going.

Yes I think I can imagine your seaside town. I'm a little south of our Scottish capital. You guys must be getting battered by Henry at the moment. He's still ravaging up here.

I do have a Kindle app on my laptop but I don't like reading that way. I have thought, occasionally, how convenient it would be to have the Kindle device, but I think I just prefer filling up shelves and actually picking them up and holding them. I'm an old fashioned girl :) And I think I'm too easily distracted to use audiobooks, although I can definitely see their merit.

Like you, though, whichever the medium, I cannot help myself!!

Take care.

M.J. Moon (mjmoon) | 1 comments Hi everyone,
Well this is a bit weird isn´t it? It´s like being the new kid at school when you have to stand in front of the class and say something really interesting about yourself.
I´m not good at this online meeting people stuff so I´ll just say a few things about myself:
1. My name´s Marion.
2. I live in Spain but I´m from the UK.
3. I have two books out there: The Girl with a Twirl and Marina Blue and the Mermaids of Tamesis. The first book is humour and the second one is fantasy, both are middle grade books.
4. My favourite genre is humour hotly followed by fantasy, memoirs, mystery and then other stuff.
5. I read most genres depending on my mood on the day.

Bye for now.
Marion

Dylan Callens | 13 comments Hi, I'm Dylan.

I'm from Northeastern Ontario. It's cold out. :)

My shelves are filled with philosophy books, neatly sprinkled with humorous material. My favorite book combines the best of both worlds: Infinite Jest.

I haven't been reading as much lately, as I have been writing.

Lesley Hi Marion and Dylan. Philosophy is on my list of genres to read more but I haven't arrived there yet. I have Siddhartha on my bookshelf but I don't know if that counts. I haven't read much fantasy aside from Terry Pratchett, whom I loved. I'm trying to read more history this year, alongside some fiction.

Philosophy, history and fiction... all rolled into one. That sounds like my kind of thing!

I think Siddhartha counts, at least a little bit. :)

Just a heads up everyone...
You can each create your own newbie thread to introduce yourselves. That's the whole point : )
You don't have to piggyback on Claire's.
