I thought this was starting May 18th??

I have the book now. Is it alright if I join?

Prologue/Chapter 1 Thoughts

(view spoiler)[Judging fromthe prologue which consisted of e-mails from Troika + Myriad (the two worlds of the Everlife), I get the strange feeling that a.)Tenley is much more than just a teenage girl and b.)Bow tomy speculation is sent from Troika to try and persuade Tenley to signing with them. Icould be very wrong on this theory but, only time will tell as the story progresses. (hide spoiler)]

As of this moment, I'm not sure how I feel about the characters as far as who I like or dislike goes. Right now I feel they are all quite odd but, I am excited to see how everything unfolds.

Thoughts on Chapter 2

After reading chapter 2, I have picked up on a few things which lead me to believe there may be parts of Christianity woven in the story.

-The author included passages from the bible which inspired her
-Troika = Light (Heaven/Angels/God) Myriad = Darkness (Hell/Demons/Devil)
-Troika believes people are chosen based on willingness (In the bible it also talks about the chosen ones)
-Troika/Myriad forbid suicide (Christianity forbids suicide)
-Troika + Myriad are constantly at war with one another and both are always attempting to gain more souls. (Heaven + Hell/ God + Devil are and have always been at war and are constantly fighting for our souls.)

To me these are all examples of things in the book so far which give the impression some aspects of Christianity are being used. Has anyone else picked up on this?

I hope you'll forgive my observation: not all Christian religions frown upon suicide. Lutheranism for one allows suicides to be buried on consecrated ground, unlike Catholicism.

I'm 20% in, and it's getting slowly better. Really slowly, though

65% (view spoiler)[ It's more than obvious by now that her parents have all but given up on her, her mother even had another child, as was made clear by that message at the beginning of the book. (hide spoiler)]

Finally done with this!

(view spoiler)[ Okay, her dad is a bastard. Doing what he did just so he could save himself was disgusting (and he failed at that). For someone sooo clever, Ten failed to see what was staring her in the face when it came to her mom and Jeremy. I mean, it was obvious from the moment a baby cried in that message, on chapter 2, that her mother had another kid.

The ending? Not surprising. It was pretty clear she'd sign with Troika. Why she didn't do it earlier begs the question. Also, the dynamic between Ten, Archer and Killian was too confusing for my taste. (hide spoiler)]

I could have sworn this was starting May 18th... I was planning to start tomorrow but if there's no one to read with me, I don't know if I will.

Ending thoughts
(view spoiler)[ Um. this plot was on the weird side for me. Two different "after lifes" fighting over this one girl, which is never really explained on why she's so important. She's like some dead major person that was fused? Idk. Most of this book is really a love triangle mixed with her picking an after life. just weird. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1

The emails in the beginning were a little tricky and I'm not sure why the word "dude" is bothering me so much! I think this concept so far is fascinating (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 5
(view spoiler)[ I'm ready to know why Ten is so freaking important to both sides!! I like the story so far, I just wish it would speed up a bit. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6

I cannot believe her parents. I find it extremely interesting that her mother signed Myriad basically for love, and now they are separated! & if you try to physically force a tennager into a decision, they are going to fight you even more. Very stupid. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 13
(view spoiler)[ I am sad about Clay, he seemed like he was ready to do good in the world but I am happy he was able to sign before hand. This definitely seems like a parallel to Heaven and Hell, duh... I'd side with heaven. & I really like Archer. Killian is smoldering and mysterious, but he seems like trouble. (hide spoiler)]
