Emma Jaye | 3693 comments There isn't a great deal that really annoys me, but this is one of them. This author is gaming the KU system by putting a you must click on this link message at the start of the book that takes you immediately to 100%.
The rest of this 'book' is double spaced to try and increase the pages count.
No wonder indie authors get a bad name.

Mike Robbins (mikerobbins) | 551 comments This sort of thing always has consequences for the rest of us eventually. If this becomes a common practice, I am sure KDP will start rejecting books where an internal link has been put for some quite innocent purpose.

Ana Meyer (anaemeyer) | 1 comments How does one even do that? I am so confused by that, I thought KU had a system for counting the pages as you go. Don't they realize people will catch it?

Melody Jerva | 72 comments That's so shady. It will hurt us all somehow.

Amelia Bishop | 14 comments I've noticed a few like this recently. The good news is I just checked the other one I'd seen a few days ago, (was going to link it here) and amazon has already deleted it. So I think if we report them amazon is being good about taking them down.

It's annoying because all that $ they earn for page reads is coming out of the communal "pot" that we all share for KU. :(

Grace McCabe (grace_mccabe) | 5 comments Tricks like that sort of defeat the purpose of the change to KU that Amazon made last year. Before if someone read I think it was 20% of the book the author got paid for the entire book. But there will always be people trying to make a quick dollar without putting in the work to write a book that people actually want to read to the end, unfortunately.

That strikes me as extremely unethical. :(

Noah Nichols (nanmanme) How is that even possible?? That's crazy that people try to cheat like that. I could never do something that scandalous. I want people to actually READ my book and enjoy it. Unbelievable.

Yeah, I was pretty sure they did, too. What a flamin' dishonest thing to do! As if we indies don't have enough prejudice to fight against!

Noah Nichols (nanmanme) There will ALWAYS be someone that starts ruining something for everyone. It's etched in stone.
