Goodreads Reviewers' Group discussion

Hello, I'm Charity Rowell-Stansbury, owner of the book review blog named On My Kindle. I'm in the beginning stages of writing an eBook to offer new subscribers, so I'm conducting a a survey to determine the types of reviewers that readers find credible.

I would really like to get some more responses. The survey is on Google Forms, so it's not really fancy, but it is ad free and should be quick-loading (unlike the surveys you see on Facebook).

Interesting survey. I'd just like to throw in there that I disregard any and all Kirkus reviews.

Thank you. I have read about Kirkus from reviewers that used to work for them, most of it has been negative.

Before I read those articles, I applied with them and was ignored. It's okay though, a few indie authors have added blurbs of my reviews to the back covers of their print books.

In my opinion, it is more rewarding to see a blurb from one of my reviews with credit given to my blog than it would be to see a blurb from one of my reviews with credit given to Kirkus. It reminds me that I am doing a service to the indie author community rather than a disservice.

I wanted to ad that I read a lot of e-books which I download on my Kindle. I'm making a choice very fast and I have no time to read a review or to go back to Kindle and check for stars. Some of these books are wonderful, some are awful. I have also read hard-cover books with wonderful reviews inside the front cover that I did not finish. I know that everyone says you need lots of positive reviews to sell a book, but some of my friends who loved my book didn't want to post reviews (maybe they didn't love it so much.)
