I read the entire Rabbit series many years ago. I would like to know what you group thinks of the book.

I just finished it for the 1001 group read this month.
Honestly, I was hoping for Rabbit to get hit by a bus!
For me, it would require a reread to get all the religious references-I did get some. But Updike's blatant, obnoxious misogyny (for example: who asks a woman her weight, ever, let alone on a blind date???) puts a grinding halt on that thought.
I did a little research- it was a failing that Updike tried to overcome, and never did. He even went so far to criticize his feminist critics, and publicly let loose on one at a cocktail party.
The man knew how to write, but after reading Rabbit, I don't care to read anymore of his work.

RW | 2 comments Hi all! I'm a migrant from the Shelfari days, and I'm happy that I've [finally] done the move and re-joined the group! I'm "classically" trained, but love all types of books :-)

Laurie (laugal) Hi I'm Laurie.I am from WNY state. I see many of my Shelfari and Goodreads friends here! My page says I have not posted, so here goes. I love reading, I love Goodreads (Shelfari will always be #1 tho).Having a better reading year this year than last. Currently reading "Mary Modern", very interesting read, not my normal "thing",but the pages keep turning.I am still getting used to Goodreads,so I plan to be more active than I have been.
