5.10 - Self-portrait
Choose your own masterpiece. Read a book of your choice. Note: Books with the genre "children" or "kids" NOT found in AR Bookfinder MAY be used for this task. REQUIRED: If using this exemption, state that the book is not found in ARBookFinder.

Pia This has probably been asked a hundred times. Sorry if I'm repeating the question, but I'm not clear on this:

Can a book that is in the AR bookfinder, but does not meet the requirements, be used for this task only?

For example: From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg

IL: MG - BL: 4.7 - AR Pts: 5.0

Thanks!

I've seen this answered before Pia and their answer was no. Any book that appears in AR bookfinder must conform to the standard rule of:

d) Books that have an IL designation of MG MUST ALSO have a BL of 5.0 (or higher) AND AR Pts of 7.0 (or higher). The AR BookFinder UK equivalent for MG is MY.

However there are many books which are identified as 'children genre' but which aren't in AR bookfinder. As many of these books are not clearly 'non children' which means they can't be posted in the 'not for children' thread and approved by the mods as definitely not for children, then the only place these sorts of books can be posted is on the 5.10 task. But, any book that IS in AR Bookfinder must fit the stated rules.
