I blog on my personal website, before that I had a separate wordpress blog. I combined the two. Now im looking to enhance my blog and gain more readers. So to those authors who run blogs, how often do you post? Should authors have more than one blog? What content makes up your blog?

Hi,
I too tried to sync my blogs- mainly i synced my wordpress site with the amazon author page. I think too much or too little blogging are both not good. Just blog whenever you feel you should, or when you have something you are sure will create interest. I tend to use my different sites for different tones of subject; for example my FB page that is dedicated to my book series has all sorts of political and global issues on it because that is what my book's theme is: a political spy thriller. My wordpress page i use for all the various personal musings. I think it helps when different pages hold different themes- it helps with a diverse audience and it helps show our readers our different sides.

I have at least one interacting blog post a day. If something happens that I would like the readers to know, I post. Those posts hit my sites and those who follow, I leave links for those sites not attached...

That's what I am trying to do build a bigger audience blogging about different things. Your examples were great and just what I was thinking of doing, just was unsure and didn't want to be too much like you said. Thanks for your input.

As yet I haven't mentioned my book, (still on a blog learning curve) but have used various 'scenes' from a bio that I was writing about my earlier travels, mainly for my g'children, mixed in with my recent travels.
My readers are travel focused more than anything else, mixed with a few 'foodies' & book lovers.
As yet I haven't linked it to FB, but I am investigating upgrading to a paid blog rather than free Wordpress.

I have only one blog. It is published on Goodreads only.
The inaugural post was published Nov. 18, 2013. There are 106 posts to date. So far, the blog has generated 3,220 views, 117 "likes" and 228 followers' comments.
Content varies. Subjects range from the writing and publishing processes and author ettiquette to everyday life experiences, both past and present.
I hope this information and data prove helpful.

The process is slow especially since we are individuals and it gets a bit difficult working on goodreads, wattpad, fb, linkedin...sometimes i wonder if we need to be awarded for this circus act :D but at the end it is worth it, and i have noticed that if the progress is slow it means it will be steady. Best of luck.

Contests are a great way to build an audience but be careful with this as it can be overwhelming as I learned the hard way.
Create an editorial calendar that you can stick to. If you find it's two much, change it. Schedule your posts a head. You always throw in something timely.

Lastly, if you have not done so, take the blogging classes offered by WordPress. Blogging 101 and Blogging 102 helped me get off to a running start.
