Thank you Sean, Since he's an active member in one of the espionage groups @ GR I get some more information there.
I'm glad I didn't miss the read-along/Q&A. And wait a little bit longer to start his books.

The next Readalong is booked for March.

It is a police/crime/action packed thriller.

I have just finished the book, I really loved the book.

The Policewoman by Justin Roberts.

I do hope you will join in.

I'm looking forward. It's so much more something for me than any psychological thriller.

Cool, I hope it will be available in Germany as well :-)

Justin Roberts | 37 comments Hi, I'm Justin W.M. Roberts, the author of The Policewoman.

The new version is still being treated by the publisher. I've submitted the manuscript about a month ago and I'm disappointed it's taking this long.

Agnieszka,

Yes, the book is currently available in Germany.

Justin

@ Sean, Janet,
when will the discussion thread for this book go life?

What is a little sad.

As a group we support and help new authors.

We do our Read a long, and try to get as many people as involved as we can.

We only ask authors join in the group, and take part in other authors read a long's.

Sadly this rarely happens....

I understand Authors do need to get their books in the public domain to gain loyal customers.

Two of our longest serving members but did a read a long and then left.... Ty Patterson and Dave Edlund...

Dave left as he had taken part in every group read, then nobody read his book when we did a read a long... sadly not a book many wanted to read.

We support you,,, why not help us as a group and become part of the group and join in the threads.

The more members that know you, the more members will want to read your books...

message 163: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments I'll back that up, Sean. Many members of this group have been so supportive of my writing efforts, but I communicate with them primarily as another reader.

Yes indeed.... one of our most loyal author members David

message 165: by Gopal (new)

Gopal (gopaliyer) | 482 comments I agree with Sean. David you are more of a pal than an author to many of us. All the promotion that you do is within the threads that the group has for them. Also I can see you actively participating in different conversations and threads not related to your books.

I think that is what makes us relate to you more, self publishing is a great avenue for new and budding authors bit of every post by an author came across like a plug for their books then the readers are bound to feel overwhelmed and try to blanket ignore it. Plugging leads to more harm than good.

This is a very open and harmonious forum for people from all walks to discuss or talk about their interests - books and reading. Author members should respect that.

Very well said Gopal.

This is something I am trying my best to explain to many authors..

Some have done read a longs, then not heard from them again !!

Please see message from member author Jennie...

Let me know your interest, so we can book and go ahead.

I know some authors have to work hard to make the book free for a few days.

hi again,
Good news, I've had the OK for a free period soon from my publisher Xander Cansell at Unbound. He's suggested that he liaise with you re the timing of this - is that OK? Do you have an email he can have or can you email him?

Before we go ahead though, do you think there'd be reasonable interest in my book? and how many people have participated lately?

I'm wondering how my book might go down with AGT members, given it's not action-filled, ultra-fast paced (as a lot of you guys seem to like) but a psychological-romantic thriller that's more of a character-driven story, probably appealing to more women than men? (plenty of readers inc. men have said it's a pageturner though, and have read quickly)

Also admittedly I've not participated hugely in the threads here (can try to rectify a bit before the start!) so would that be an issue?

thanks Sean, and I do hope you don't mind my questions :)

I keep thinking the football movie with Sandra Bullock!

Jennie | -2 comments yes I understand that's a popular film in the US - not watched it yet (not into football or baseball only tennis).

message 185: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) So, as a tennis lover, do you think Sharapova should've gotten that wild card slot?

message 186: by Jennie (new)

I can't comment on ethics of this though.

Jennie.... tennis is the main hobby here... okay for me !!

Well and boxing and snooker !!

Yes Sharapova should have got her wild card, she is NOT my favourite player, but the ban I think was wrong it was for a health problem and confirmed that she is a diabetic.

The drug she took was for diabetes and heart condition, not to make her perform better. A true cheat takes drugs to make them perform better, they should be banned for life.

As a diabetic and a tennis player and coach for over 20 years, who watches every tennis match that I can, and play 3 times a week., and have to take medication for my diabetes, it makes not difference to my game !

Jennie I will buy your book any day now..

Busy finishing a brilliant book Power Game by Ben Coes.

I'm more of an armchair sports fan now. Tennis is the master sport IMO. Not really up on the situation with Sharapova but it doesn't seem like she set out to cheat as you say. Cheats should be banned I totally agree. I wonder if because she's Russian people are tougher on her?

message 189: by P.K. (new)

P.K. Davies | 549 comments Hi Jennie. Don't worry; got the right book.
About tennis; Sean, I don't agree with you. Sharapova has proved she has one of the shrewdest brain on the tour. She knew the drug had been banned but continued to use it. As experts said at the time, there were plenty of okay drugs she could have used (and did use regularly) for diabetes. Final point; what a coincidence that the tournament that gave her a wild card (Stuttgardt) are sponsored by Porshe. So is Sharapova. Sorry, cynicism is ingrained after years behind a news desk

message 190: by P.K. (new)

P.K. Davies | 549 comments Re tennis again. You blind (there's that word again) sided me, Sean by mentioning diabetes. I thought Sharapova took meldonium for her heart? Deosn't it increase oxygen levels? Isn't that a performance aid? Wasn't that why the federation banned it? Anyway, the point is she has served her time and should be allowed to get on with her career. But, by getting a wild card instead of playing her way back into the majors, she is depriving other players - as she did with Gorges, the German No 2, at Stuttgart.
Meantime, I have just watched Murray defeat Ramos in a hell of a game. Ramos is some player on clay and beat Murray last week in Monaco. Roll on Wimbledon
Have a great weekend everyone.

message 191: by Sean, Moderator (new)

Sean Peters | 10517 comments Mod
A very tough win for Murray, especially after loosing to him last week. Just came through a tough match, and now in the semi final.

Been to Wimbledon seventeen times, and hopefully this year again, as in London at that time.

message 192: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I brought up Sharapova because I heard on the Beeb that some complained because she was getting spot that others could have had.

Some of these sports irritate me because they sort of pre-rate the athletes by reputation not performance.

Ice skating / gymnastics are especially bad at this.

Just my 2 cents. Really don't care for tennis that much, I'm more interested in team sports: women's soccer, baseball, hockey.

I'm interested for sure in And the Wolf Shall Dwell and perhaps in Best Eaten Cold... - though the second would depend on my health situation - since a few months now I'm struggling again with a severe depressive episode and I'm not able to deal with psychological thrillers right now - let's hope it's get better by then.
