Are you all doing this 'paced'? What is the plan? I have this and Bryan Smith cracks me up!

I'm at 16% (chapter 10) and really enjoying it so far. (view spoiler)[I like Noah and really feel his sense of isolation up in the woods. What happened to his sister was awful but her anger at Noah is so unfair. For a read where nothing big has really happened this is reading very quickly. (hide spoiler)]

I'll probably try to pace it out unless I can't put it down. Which happens often :)

I couldn't put it down. It was so much more than just another zombie story. One of Smith's best.

I have this loaded on my kindle ready to go, i don't read on weakends though so i will start tomorrow.

Neither could I--this one really moved fast, and I couldn't NOT know what was happening next. If I hadn't just read it, I would have voted for this one. :)

Ok so this is NOTHING like the other Smith books I've read. Good story so far. (Chapter 10)

Well, about 3 or 4chapters in and my kindle took a dump. I have been having problems with it.

Debating getting a voyage but everything i read says is not worth the extra cost. I would have to buy another case also, i already have a paperwhite case.

I received the voyage as a gift and though I probably like it better, I don't think I would have splurged my own cash for it. I was happy with the paperwhite.

That's what pretty much everyone has said. It would be nice to upgrade just because then it wouldn't suck so much to have to buy a new Kindle and have the same thing i already had but i will probably just buy another paperwhite. If i didn't already have the case maybe i would do the voyage. I did read that the current paperwhite are upgraded from what i have though with a higher res (equal to voyage) and 4gig of storage instead of 2 (also equal to voyage). Maybe i will get 3g this time so i can save space on there by not downloading everything i buy right away since it will still always be available to me.

If I had to get a new one right now I'd probably go with the paperwhite, especially if they've upgraded the storage. As of a few days ago, my kindle is out of space for anything more than a few regular-sized books. I might even go with a cheaper refurbished model, which is what I got for my kids for xmas.

Also, I'm at about 19% now, end of Part I. I really like this zombie novel so far...we'll get a look at the 'outside' world once (view spoiler)[Noah sets out on his journey! (hide spoiler)]. I also feel like this book is very different from House of Blood, and better written! I have a lot of Bryan Smith books I got on sale awhile ago so maybe I'll look into those too.

I bought just about all of his books that i hadn't already read awhile back when they where on sale and still have a few of them to read. This one is starting out great, can't wait to get my new Kindle and get back to it (just ordered with 2day shipping)

The character's mental/emotional journey is far more prominent than the physical journey and I think that's what makes this book stand out. I just read it a few months ago and I could almost start it again.

I love my paper white and the new upgrade is awesome!

Ch11(view spoiler)[I'm totally blown away by the story he told about what happened with him and Lisa. It's very relatable and has me wondering if he'll ever find out what happened. It's only right that he does. Love this! (hide spoiler)]

This seems to be one of Smith's more "character-driven" novels. :)

About half way done. I had to leave a good part last night and I am itchy. I hate when work gets in the way of my reading!

I'm at 36% chapter 21. (view spoiler)[ That old man was so evil, I cheered when Aubrey and Nice turned up to save Noah. I wonder if the woman will survive her experience in the cellar, having her mouth sewn up as well as the daily physical and sexual abuse was horrific. (hide spoiler)]

I'm at 19% (part 2) (view spoiler)[ I'm enjoying it so far, I'm not sure how sincere she was about wanting him to stay and just testing him but she had tears in her eyes while begging him not to leave so who knows? Also the story about the girlfriends parents definitly seems fake especially with the Facebook being cut off, it's weird that she tried calling him so many times right before disappearing though. She obviously wanted to talk to him and even if her parents had intervened it seems like she would have got ahold of him at some point I'm curious if she will come back into the story, and also how his sister is going to come back into it now that he left. Wow, this got disturbing very quickly. Not what I expected after reading the beginning, but (view spoiler)[being locked in a cellar is terrible, but seeing someone with their mouth sewed shut in there with you is just horrifying. And to think, I was worried about him losing his possessions when he encountered the old man. (hide spoiler)]

Am at 59%, the end of part 2.
This book gets better and better for me. Am loving this book!
(view spoiler)[was so excited he made a connection with Linda! I couldn't believe she died after all that. Maybe she knew she was going to die and wanted one last time with human contact. I totally had a dream before I started this book about zombies attacking and what did I do? Raid houses for books....Noah and I were of the same mind frame apparently...lol. Great book btw:)

I've just finished book 2 as well. (view spoiler)[ I was gutted that Linda died, after everything she'd been through. I'm not sure what to make of the blinds and the missing dead man, it was pretty eerie. Noah's past is giving quite an insight into how he was and it's not at all pretty. His drinking is going to get them all killed if he's not careful, I can see him coming to blows with Nick over this as he's a liability. (hide spoiler)]

As for the end of Part 2 (view spoiler)[I found the whole sex thing with Linda to be an eye roller. Yeah, she's been raped for months on end but she wants to get it on with Noah. I just didn't buy it. It felt rushed to me but her death was a big surprise, a nice twist! I loved the 'missing' corpse in the house, another mystery twist... (hide spoiler)]

I know Maxine I agree... but its Bryan Smith. I don't know if you've read anything else by him but the characters in his books get it on at the drop of a hat. In ALL kinds of situations. I have only read 3 but this is the most tame I have read.

36%(view spoiler)[I'm a little mad at Noah for his reaction at being saved. I mean, he's gotta understand what his sister went through, heck he just went through it himself. I think his pride is getting in the way. I'm hoping they can move on. (hide spoiler)]

I've read about 5, and while this is the "tamest" of all, I liked this one the best in terms of characterization and "thought-provoking" scenes.

Yeah I know but it was incongruous with the beginning of the book. I felt like this one was all over the place, whereas say House of Blood was pretty consistent from the beginning.

Lol, I felt like Noah's reaction was actually pretty believable. I would want to blow my stack and drink a case of booze too!
