Alicia | 22 comments Ok so I have mentioned this on some random forums, therefore some of you may already know the background.

I am currently in college and my homework for one course is to read one book per week that focuses on her required topics. The novels must be for juveniles or young adults. Obviously I prefer paranormal and fantasy genres, so finding books for her topics in the genre has been a challenge.

The topic this week is friendship and I found two books I am interested in but I am not sure which would be better for the class to read. So I am asking you to give me your advice.

The books are:
Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaugh
Intertwined by Gena Showalter

Which do you think is good for my class and read in 7 days?

Jenn I would have to say Voices of dragons. It deals with modern day technology on one side and on the other side a friendship with a dragon.

Alicia | 22 comments lol Thank you Jenn.

Now if I could read both, it would be so much easier!

Alicia | 22 comments I know maybe I should wait and see which is the majority another time...then maybe I will know what to do. lol

Alicia | 22 comments I don't know how... :(

Jenn Maybe you could read both, do you read books or ebooks? I would think of it as a challenge to read both then you could do a report showing both sides of the same subject.

My teenage daughter read Voices of Dragons and is a huge fan of Carrie Vaughn. I have heard of the other book, but not read it.

Seriously, if your reading load is killing you, try audiobooks? You can listen to them while doing other things.

It wasn't horrible. I would have probably been more appreciative to the storyline when I was younger. The main characters rebelled against society and tried to stop a war. Their personal interactions were intriguing. I kind of wish there was more about the dragon society and not just about the human society, I think it would have helped the perspective. I did not have a strong desire to finish the book as when I truly enjoy a novel. Overall I think I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I am glad my teacher asked for me not to read Intertwined, only because I truly do like Gena Showalter and I would prefer to to feel rushed with her novels. They are incredibly fast paced and hard to put down, but when I am free to read I can appreciate her work more.
