My teenage daughter read Voices of Dragons and is a huge fan of Carrie Vaughn. I have heard of the other book, but not read it.
Seriously, if your reading load is killing you, try audiobooks? You can listen to them while doing other things.

It wasn't horrible. I would have probably been more appreciative to the storyline when I was younger. The main characters rebelled against society and tried to stop a war. Their personal interactions were intriguing. I kind of wish there was more about the dragon society and not just about the human society, I think it would have helped the perspective. I did not have a strong desire to finish the book as when I truly enjoy a novel. Overall I think I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I am glad my teacher asked for me not to read Intertwined, only because I truly do like Gena Showalter and I would prefer to to feel rushed with her novels. They are incredibly fast paced and hard to put down, but when I am free to read I can appreciate her work more.
I am currently in college and my homework for one course is to read one book per week that focuses on her required topics. The novels must be for juveniles or young adults. Obviously I prefer paranormal and fantasy genres, so finding books for her topics in the genre has been a challenge.
The topic this week is friendship and I found two books I am interested in but I am not sure which would be better for the class to read. So I am asking you to give me your advice.
The books are:
Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaugh
Intertwined by Gena Showalter
Which do you think is good for my class and read in 7 days?
