I look forward to reading it.

Welcome Marianne -you have come to the right place and will join @Louise who also comes from Quebec and reads in both english and french!!

Enjoy!
And oh yeah... Happy New Year everyone!

Hi Marianne and welcome. What part of Quebec are you in? I live on the south shore of Montreal. I think we are the only Quebec members here. It's a great group.

Hi Louise (and Marianne) - I think Alan from Montreal just joined in!

Hi Louise. No problem, I'm amazed someone remembered me! Welcome to my fellow residents of La Belle Provence! It's great to have you here.

That sounds good to me, Louise. I hope to get to know you all better. I still need to figure out how to friend people on here, being a newby.

Thank you Peter for the great recommendations!

Hi Louise, I live in Gatineau.

A little bit about me: I live in Sainte-Julie, in Québec. I was a translator for 10 years, but now I'm in the process of a career change. I did a few courses in publishing and I'd like to study to become a Library Technician (not sure yet). So, I love books. In the last years, I read a lot of Québécois novels, but now I'd like to read Canadian books in English. I love fiction, and I like to explore different genres. I also read like 2-3 essays a year. Glad to get to know you all! :)

Oh wow, you are quite close to me. Welcome Sara!

My name is Ali Marsman, I am a published author/illustrator originally from Nova Scotia, but I have been living on the lower mainland of BC for just about 17 years now.
I am looking forward to the discussions, and have enjoyed what I have read thus far!
Sincerely,
Ali
Awesome - great to have more participation and discussions about CanLit... check out our spine crackers thread. :)

Great!
Thank you so much for creating this group!
:)

Welcome Angelique!! We will love to hear about the reading exchange and you have come to the right place for CanLit recommendations. :)

One of my 'Goodreads' connections told me about this group. I am in Edmonton and about to self publish my first book. It's a collection of short stories, essays and poetry and meditations all inspired by my real life experience. I have found two bookstores in Edmonton willing to sign a consignment agreement. This will also give me access to space for my book signing events. I am looking for other bookstores that accept self published work in other parts of Canada; including Calgary, Montreal, Toronto etc. I would appreciate any information you have. I shall tell you more about my book in the coming weeks. I'm about to print proof copies.
I was born in Zimbabwe but I now refer to Canada as my home. My stories have both places as backdrops. I decided to write in English even though it's my second language, my first being Ndebele, a dialect of Zulu. In terms of reading, I have just completed "The Lonely Hearts Hotel" by Heather O'Neill. I am in the middle of reading "Home Ice: Reflections of a Reluctant Hockey Mom" by Angie Abdou and "Journey through Genocide" by Raffy Boudjikanian. There never seems to be enough time to read, write, work full time and do all kinds of fun stuff in life, but I'm trying to spread time in a way that I can manage and enjoy each process. I look forward to participating and connecting with this group. Regards, Awa.

@Bruce, Thank you:)

Welcome Awa!! Lonely Hearts has been on my list for a LONG time!!
Please feel free to add information about your book to the promote your blog/book thread (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) and I hope you enjoy all the discussion about Canadian books!

Nice Martine! It's great to see more Quebecers in the group.

This is my first visit to the group. My name is Maureen Thorpe. I live in British Columbia but grew up in Yorkshire, U.K.. I enjoy reading most genres, especially police procedurals and murder mysteries. I am also a writer. Imagine my surprise when my novels turn out to be historical with a touch of magic! maureenthorpe.com
Sorry to miss your intro Maureen, I was attempting to be less online during a vacation. Welcome to CanadianContent where you will find your TBR like grows!

My name is Shannon; I've been living and working in Ottawa for the last 11 years. I've joined this group in the hopes of making more time to read - I love books but they are sadly the first thing I set aside when life gets busy! Many of the discussion forums here look like a good match for my tastes and interests. I haven't explored all the forums yet; do some group members follow a book-of-the-month format, or is the approach less regimented?
Looking forward to the great reads ahead. :)
Welcome Shannon!! You will find lots of great book suggestions her (especially in the weekend spine crackers). We have not been doing too well at the mo they reads but you might enjoy the book bingo!

I think you'll enjoy this group. Feel free to comment in any of the threads.
