Noor Al-Shanti Hi everyone. This looks like a great group! Looks like I'm not the only one from Nova Scotia here :) I love reading all kinds of books, especially fantasy, sci-fi, british classics like dickens, and of course I have a soft spot for Canadian fiction.

I'm a teacher by day, but I also write fantasy and sci fi whenever I can get the time!

Pauline Macura Brown | 2 comments Hi everyone. I am new to the group. I try to read Canadian authors as much as possible and joined this group to give me ideas and to share thoughts. I was born in Northern Ontario (Timmins), grew up and married in Toronto, and have lived in Calgary for the last 20 years. Recently retired, I have moved a little further west into the foothills of the Rockies. Today it is -30C just right for curling up with a new book.

Margaret Mair | 8 comments Hello,
I'm newly active on GoodReads and found your group while exploring. I live in Toronto, where I create art and dabble in writing and spend time looking after and enjoying our grandsons (two, almost three and almost five). I blog and belong to a memoir writing group at our local library, and in the summer I sail as much as possible with my husband. And I've spent time in the Maritimes, and highly recommend traveling there!

Glen Mofford (glenalan54) | 1 comments Greetings all and thank-you Susan for this group. I am quite new to 'goodreads' and I am also a new author. I love non-fiction Canadian history and find I can never get enough. My wife and I are retired on Vancouver Island and I am finding much more time that I can devote to reading and writing. Please feel free to visit my profile as I shall certainly explore this group. Thank-you.

message 226: by Sharon (new)

Sharon | 2 comments Hello! I'm new to Good Reads and am happy to have found a group of people interested in books by Canadian authors. I'm 56 and living with my husband in Caledon Ontario. I manage a busy community mental health service and am a part time musician. I love reading and haven't found a book club that suits my interests and schedule. So it seems this is the perfect solution! Looking forward to the exchanges here.

I wrote a non-fiction tinnitus book, but am now writing short creepy horror stories and a novel trilogy. I'm glad to be in a Canadian GR group. message 236: by CynthiaA (new)

CynthiaA (bookthia) | 91 comments Hello Everyone. I'm Cynthia, from central Ontario. Have been on Goodreads for ages but rarely posted in groups. I am an avid Bookcrosser (www.bookcrossing.com) and the LFL movement gives me a safe place to pass on my books, so I am grateful for that. I consult in govt relations part time, and spend the rest of my time volunteering in local elementary schools. And, of course, reading. My reading choices are predominantly literary fiction and mainstream fiction, but I love to stretch my horizons and read other genres too. Because we have so many talented Cdn authors, it is always easy to find a good read from one. I look forward to some bookish discussions.

Great to meet you here Cynthia!! Book Crossing is one of the things I need to learn more about as I think it might be nice to incorporate with my LFL.

message 238: by Alan (new)

Alan | 542 comments Welcome CynthiA, I belonged to a book crossings meetup years ago but it disbanded. Before the lfl mvt which blows me away, I was a huge bookcrossings fan.

message 239: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (Falling Letters) (fallingletters) | 2 comments Hello everyone, my name is Jenna and I'm from Winnipeg. I read a lot of different things, but I mostly enjoy speculative fiction and middle-grade fiction. I found this group via Susan's blog. I think the Canada Bingo sounds like a great idea, especially for this year, so I'm looking forward to joining in on that. I am particularly interested in reading more books by Canadian Indigenous authors. I blog at Falling Letters.

Welcome Jenna! I hope that you enjoy the bingo and we have a thread dedicated to Indigenous authors/books. I will check out your blog and we have a thread for you to add that link to as well. :)

message 242: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catjackson) Hello, again! I haven't had the chance to post in soooo long I thought I should reintroduce myself. :)

I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, home of Smith Island Cake and lovely blue crabs. Salisbury University is my work-home and this is what has kept me so busy lately. We've gone through a complete reorganization of my department and just this month I was promoted! I still won't have much time for reading and posting, but I did miss the conversations here and want to do a better job keeping up.

Right now I'm reading Louise Penny's A Great Reckoning and am loving it! I look forward to being more involved again.

I'm a Toronto science & social justice writer & author of one of the non-fiction books on the Globe 100 list (the skinniest one; it's called Opium Eater: The New Confessions). I'm also an ardent reader of both fiction and non-fiction. Very pleased to be here. Happy New Year to all.
