James Campbell (tjcams) I will lay this out as simple as I can...

I loved Dan Simmons The Terror. Why you ask.....? It took an actual historical event (series of events), in this case Franklin's expedition to find the northwest passage, threw in some native Inuit mythology, mix in some mother nature, and added all the right elements of a fictional story. I also thought the character were well developed.

Any recommendations for something similar? And I do plan on picking Abominable, also by Simmons.

Hm... The first historical "horror relevant" events that came to my mind during brainstorming were the Jack the Ripper/Whitechapel murders:

Night of the Ripper by Robert Bloch

I am a huge fan of Bloch, but Alan Moore's From Hell creates an even better portrait of the Victorian London:

From Hell by Alan Moore

Hope you don't mind reading comics?
