Emma Jaye | 3693 comments This is a special celebratory, genre specific group. In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.

Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate preferences. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – even within the same genre, we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Make sure you have an author profile set up before you join and that your book is available for sale on amazon (not pre-0rder).

Please let me know as you sign up if you have been reviewed by, or have reviewed another author in the group. It is permissible to review an author more than once if a different book is available, but reciprocal reviews within the group are strictly prohibited.

Warren Dean

Leo McBride (leomcbride) | 115 comments Hi there, I'm a new member to the group - so I've not previously reviewed any other members or been reviewed by them. Looking to sign up particularly for sci fi, though horror and fantasy is also in my regular reading range. The most recent book I have featured in is a sci fi anthology with ten different writers included. It is Tales From The Universe: Ten Amazing Stories From Tomorrow. Hope this is the right place/format to sign up but feel free to point me the right way if not! My most recent reviews were for Chuck Wendig's Star Wars Aftermath and Blackbirds books - I also put those up on my blog here if you want to see my reviewing style: http://www.alteredinstinct.com/2016/0...

message 3: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Which book would you like to include Leo? This is a 'scifi' round.
You will need to be able to supply a minimum of PDF copies of the book to your reviewers.

message 4: by Leo (new)

Leo McBride (leomcbride) | 115 comments Hi Emma,

I'd like to include Tales From The Universe - and yes, happy to supply pdf copies (or mobi/epub if preferred).

message 5: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Welcome aboard Leo. Usually I ask people to add the goodreads link for thier book, but I'll hunt it out for you this time.

Leo McBride (leomcbride) | 115 comments Emma wrote: "Welcome aboard Leo. Usually I ask people to add the goodreads link for thier book, but I'll hunt it out for you this time."

Oh, sorry, I'd added it in the first message above - here it is, though: Tales From The Universe: Ten Amazing Stories From Tomorrow

message 7: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Just adding a comment so I can get updates automatically.

message 8: by Warren (new)

Warren Dean | 321 comments Emma, I have reviewed Jacob Carlisle's Small Fish Big Fish.

message 9: by P.J. (new)

P.J. McDermott (goodreadscomjacobcarlisle) | 78 comments Emma, I have reviewed Scott Spotson's Bridge Through Time.

message 10: by Warren (new)

Warren Dean | 321 comments Slotting Jacob in at no. 2 should resolve it?

message 11: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments if Scott has another book to offer Jacob for review, that would do it. he's already reviewed the book Scott has submitted.

Its a problem we more prolific authors experience all the time. I've just had to withdraw from the romance group because I have too many connections with the other authors.

message 12: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) I do have Life II for Jacob. It is set before Bridge Through Time.

Life II

message 13: by Brian (new)

Brian Cox | 21 comments Hi Emma

I would like to add my book, The Stratosphere.

My book is very much soft science fiction, so if most of the books end up being hard, I will withdraw. I am happy to read hard stuff, but not sure if the hard guys want to read soft!

I will be ready to post a link in four days, as the final re-edit will be finished by then.

many thanks
Bria

message 14: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments As this is the only 'forming' scifi group now, it'll probably end up being a mixture. I don't think it'll be problem Brian. Post your links when your book is ready, although with the way these groups are filling up, I'm not sure if there will still be a place.

message 15: by R.A. (new)

R.A. | 11 comments Hello again!

I would like my sci fi romance: Protect Us to be reviewed. Here is my author link and the link to the book. :D

message 16: by Michael (new)

Michael Lewis (mll1013) | 16 comments Since this is my first review, I have a couple of questions:

1) What is the order of assignments based on the list in the original post? Does each reader review the work above/below her in the list? For example, if I'm slotted at #5, do I review the work listed in #6?

2) Should we wait for the entire list to complete before beginning to read, in case there are any changes to the order or can we reach out to our assigned author as soon as we know who it is?

Thanks,
Mike

message 17: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments The list order may change, depending on who signs up to so we avoid reciprocal reviews. Please do not start reading yet.
When we have out ten members, I'll set up the reviewing list, and post it along with the dates for completion.
Authors have to be able to send and receive at least PDF files but most can also deal with mobi and/or epub. Or if a book is in KU and the reviewer has a KU account, they can get the book that way.
Have a quick look at one of the up and running groups to see how it works.

message 19: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Cheers (brendacheers) | 366 comments Hi Emma.

I'll help boost the numbers, although I have already reviewed Warren Dean and Scott Spotson. Jacob Carlisle has already reviewed another book of mine.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

No probs if there are too many conflicts.

Thanks

message 20: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments I think it'll work if Warren and Scot have other books you can review. Can you have a quick look at their profiles and check?

I could review 'Life II' by Scott.
I'm okay with Warren's book--I haven't reviewed it yet. :)

Hi Emma,

Somehow I missed your post. No, I have not reviewed or been reviewed by anyone in the group.

message 30: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Whoo hoo that's out ten confirmed then folks, I'll get the order set up ASAP, I know you're all champing at the bit.

message 31: by Warren (new)

Warren Dean | 321 comments Hi Emma,

I have reviewed Jacob Carlisle before. That's why I suggested that he slot in at number 2 rather

message 32: by Emma (last edited Apr 01, 2016 01:45PM) (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Holding of horses folks, I need to do some fiddling around. Your solution won't work Warren because Brenda would end up reviewing Jacob.

Back to the bits of paper....

So sorry, but this isn't going to work, we're going to have to wait for another member who doesn't have as many connections as Brenda.

So sorry Brenda, but you're going to have to wait for the next bus.

Not a problem, Emma. I'll wait for another round. :-)

message 34: by E.G. (new)

E.G. Manetti (thornraven) | 93 comments @Emma - I was wandering through the other threads and noticed that this group is an offshoot of 100B and was set up to be 'hard' scifi. My books are more space opera than hard scifi. I am happy to participate, but I don't want to misrepresent to the rest of the group.

message 35: by Rafael (new)

Rafael (rafaelnyc) | 115 comments Hi Emma !!

If by the time you see this one more person is still needed, please slot me in with "The Huntsman".

Author Page:

Book Page:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

IMPORTANT: If you do put me in please note I am currently also listed in 100E but that group is still waiting to fill up. You'll need to remove me.

However, if it is too much trouble, I'm a patient man. (-:

Thanx !!

message 36: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments E.G. this was initially an off-shoot, but I had to find a way to divide things up and at the time, we had more 'soft' scifi than 'hard' so I divided it that way.
Once group 100b was set up, all bets were off and this reverted to a 'general' scifi group.

Rafael, you can be in more than one of these celebratory groups at a time, if you think you can cope with the reading workload. However, the non-reciprocal reviewing rule still applies.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to accept PDF. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

When you have posted your reviews, please post the three links to your reviews in this thread.

All reviews must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum). Happy reviewing, everyone :)

Leo McBride (leomcbride) | 115 comments Thanks for the starting pistol! I have EG's book on my Kindle right now - sending messages out to authors who've not already been in touch in a moment!

Anyone needing to send to me, my preference is mobi but can handle other formats such as pdf or epub if you need, and best address to send to is [email protected]. Nudge me on Twitter as @chippychatty if need be :)

E.G. Manetti (thornraven) | 93 comments @Rafael - did you get my message 'one more thing?' I had two blank responses and the 'new message' indicator didn't clear when I opened them. I deleted them, but now I'm wondering if we've run afoul of the 'GooFreads Gremlin.'
