Josh Turner I am almost 100% "reading" audiobooks. I have a 2 hour commute, I hate terrestrial radio, and I get tired of my music collection.

I also just don't have time in my day on a consistent basis to read a physical book. The last book I read was a Kindle version on my phone. I read it in waiting rooms, on car rides when I wasn't driving, and occasionally while my kids were watching something on TV. It took like a month (Under and Alone *great book*)

Plus, I do other things at home, usually outside or with my kids, or with my kids outside. So my drive is my only "reading" time.

I prefer talk radio, and years ago I found a website that played old radio shows like The Man Called X, Mr. District Attorney, Boston Blackie and Barry Craig ;Confidential Investigator.

I get 90% of them from the Public Library, and I've downloaded a few from Youtube.

I think I started with something from the Alex Cross series. And I've finished several of those.
Jack Reacher, Hackberry Holland, Spenser, FBI Agents Savage and Sherlock, Bob Lee Swagger, Jesse Stone, Dave Robicheux, are among my favorite series. I also love everything I've had from Brad Meltzer.

In conversation I can't really start by saying "in this book I'm reading..." So I usually keep it ambiguous like "In the book I finished the other day.." I don't know why exactly. I somehow feel like the person I am talking to will dismiss my statement about the book, as if I just said I watched the movie.

There are side-effects though. When listening to Spenser, I picture Joe Montegna. I do get sidetracked when I hear the reader break voice for the wrong character. I dislike when they add sound effects (luckily this is rare). And I've had trouble with a female reader voicing male characters. It has made it hard to follow when the voice actor doesn't have the range to deepen their voice.

So, does anyone else utilize audiobooks heavily?

Josh Turner It forced me to choose a book, is there not a place to post an Intro?

Josh Turner No replies huh? Should I have put this somewhere else?
