Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments I have been really looking forward to reading Cambodia Noir by Aussie author Nicholas Seeley, so I think I will start with that :))

Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 21 comments I think I will be starting off with The Color Purple The Color Purple by Alice Walker

I also think I will be reading The Arabian Nights The Arabian Nights by Anonymous simultaneously throughout the month. I'm a bit nervous about the latter being a long, laborious read.

Stef Rozitis Love this idea! I have no money and little time but I love it so much I will give it a go!

Title: A Woman Among Warlords: The Extraordinary Story of an Afghan Who Dared to Raise Her Voice

Author: Photographs in the Mud

Ave Rating: Varieties of Feminist Liberalism

Date Added: Daughter of the Blood

Random: In the Shadow of Death

The problem is I have no money to get them from book depository (and if I did I would be getting the 86 books on my "read next" subshelf first. So I can only do this if I can find them at a library. But little old Adelaide is a bit limiting...So...if any Adelaide peeps can LEND me one of the ones on my list that would be wonderful. Otherwise I will still try if I can...

A Woman Among Warlords The Extraordinary Story of an Afghan Who Dared to Raise Her Voice by Malalai Joya Photographs in the Mud by Dianne Wolfer Varieties of Feminist Liberalism by Amy R. Baehr Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels #1) by Anne Bishop In the Shadow of Death (Mimi Goldman Chautauqua Mysteries, #1) by Deb Pines

message 110: by Stef (new)

Stef Rozitis Alternatively if I am allowed to narrow to my still extensive "Read next": shelf (which is part of my tobe read shelf) that MIGHT be easier

STOP!

I just finished Book 2 Girl of Shadows and then read the very first part of your review for Book 4 and you mentioned something that must be going to happen in Book 3!

I have got Book 3, The Silk Thief, ready to go, but I'm going to have to avoid reviews for A Tattooed Heart for a while, I guess.

Nothing personal if I don't "like" them yet. I'll have to enjoy them later when I won't risk being surprised.

Yes it's very difficult to write a review for the third or fourth book in a series without making reference to the story, so always best to avoid reviews if planning to read them ;)
I look forward to reading your review after I've read it Brenda...soon :)

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound critical, Brenda, especially since I did much the same thing in my review of the 2nd book. :) But I must remember to follow Julie's advice and wait. My fault entirely!

No that's alright Patty - I understand. The way this series is written; completely reliant on the previous for back story - makes each book most definitely not standalones, and therefore difficult to review the further in you get!

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments I can't believe it took a roll of the dice challenge (#25 by rating) for me to get around to reading this wonderful book!

5★ for The Kite Runner, a debut at the time for Khaled Hosseini.

Frightening, eye-opening but warm story of Afghan boys, one rich, one servant, and life before and after the Taliban. I learned a lot and I needed to. Fantastic.

My review to add to the many others:
