I just read my #1 Sort by Title book: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. 2★

I finished my fourth book - Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow.

Oh thanks Phyrnne, I don't really know anything about it... So I'm excited to get started :)

I finished my second of the challenge by Greig Beck. Has anyone else finished a book and you question yourself "Did I really enjoy that?" and you honestly don't know. The protagonist is a elite solider that has a bullet lodged in his brain, forget the heavy metal poisoning and the damage to the brain cells, this guy becomes a super human. Say Whaaat??? But the story itself was good considering it was his first novel. Appreciate my confusion! I'll have to read another one just to sort it out in my brain after all it doesn't have a bullet in it.
Oh Well on to the next one.

Sometimes I try to think if I knew the story would be the way it was, would I have read it. Could I think of anyone I know I'd really be happy recommending it to?

I rate books kind of by category. A 5 star sci-fi/fantasy or mystery for me might not be anywhere nearly as good as a 5-star literary fiction, but if I think they rank highly compare to others of that type, then I give them 5 stars.

It's a bit like rating pets: dogs vs horses vs budgies. Or horses, for courses, as the saying goes.

And if you think about it for a while and find it's memorable, that may tell you something, too.

#3: rating - Moo by Jane Smiley - 1 *

#3 average rating. All the birds singing by Evie Wyle 2 1/2 stars

Didn't quite agree with the rating but it was fun.

I've finished my first for this challenge, Boy, lost by Kristina Olson. I gave it 5 stars. Heartbreaking and the more so for being the authors mother's and family story. I loved it and have already recommended it to a friend.

Without this challenge, I might have waited forever to read #25 on my TBR list, because as someone on the ABC's Book Show said, he sort of always thought he'd read it, but . . .

Me too. Silent Spring, written by marine biologist Rachel Carson is one of the most important books ever written, no question. She single-handedly woke people up to how pesticides move between organisms and can build up to lethal levels. Since then, we've learned more about what we are doing to the natural world.

5★ for a book you should also read. Or read my (very long) review and other reviews - you'll get the idea. :)

Thanks Carolyn yes we're home:) Arrived yesterday. I read 8 books in 8 days! Lots of leisure time, reading time, relaxing time - wonderful:)

That's why I like cruising. Lots of time to read when you don't have to drive your car to get to places.

Exactly right - even though we did things there was still heaps of reading time:)

Finished my second for this challenge: 25th random My Brother Jack by George Johnston 4★

Not sure I would have got around to this otherwise but it was an interesting read, semiautobiographical and set in Australia in the time between the wars.

Lol...yeah just have to contain myself and stop ordering more! It's not as bad as I first thought though because I was looking at the overall total instead of just the unread ones :[
