PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Just in time - finished with #25 on the ratings list (bottom to top, as I recall), and ended on a good note.

4.5★ for #3 in the Convict Girls series, Deborah Challinor's colourful The Silk Thief.

This episode of our brave convict girls in early 19th century Sydney finds gentle Harrie increasingly disturbed and distressed. The evil Bella Shand is up to even worse evil tricks, and the girls' secrets are getting out.

Great fun of course. My review

Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 21 comments So this is the last chance I have to access a computer before the weekend so thought I'd update. I think I will only get through three books this time....

1. Title The Arabian Nights by ANONYMOUS The Arabian Nights by Anonymous - am reading this but have barely put a dent in it. Very easy pick up-put down type of book as its made up of many short stories. Definitely won't finish.
2. AuthorThe Color Purple by Alice Walker The Color Purple by Alice Walker I'm 80% of the way through this and am confident I will get through it by tomorrow.
3.Average Rating Landline by Rainbow Rowell Landline by Rainbow Rowell Finished this one.... if not for this challenge I may never have gotten around to it. It's ratings aren't very high and it just wasn't on my radar at all. So glad I read it though because I loved it!
4. Date Added Catch-22 by Joseph Heller Catch-22 by Joseph Heller This one is definitely not going to happen.
5. Random Looking for Alaska by John Green Looking for Alaska by John Green I'm about 20% of the way through this. But it's a pretty easy YA read, so there is every chance that I will finish it. I will let you know tomorrow!

message 254: by Kira (new)

Kira (kirajessup) | 234 comments I failed this month, for a number of reasons, main one being my kids on school holidays meant my time disappeared :( I'll finish reading the two books left anyway (one I'm half way through, the other is on my Aussie Author list anyway). I hope everyone else has done better than I have :)

Margaret | 17 comments All done :)

Updated my original post here .

It was a funny thing though... all my books were "second chance romances"... really weird. I didn't realise I had so many of those books on my TBR!!

Well done Margaret:)

message 266: by Bron (last edited Apr 30, 2016 07:07PM) (new)

Bron (bron23) | 69 comments I've finished Faceoff by David Baldacci edited by David Baldacci. It was a fun read and found a new author or two to try out. I'm halfway through my third for the challenge, Night Soldiers (Night Soldiers, #1) by Alan Furst by Alan Furst. I'm enjoying it.

That's about how far I thought I'd get through the challenge so I am happy enough with that. I have a fourth book from the library on my challenge list, Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin by Julia Heaberlin, so I will get that read still too.

I think I only added two more books to my TBR list during the month so overall it will have decreased by two in the end.

That's progress Bron! Well done:)

message 268: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 834 comments Just finished my third for the challenge, The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. Beautiful descriptions of childhood, but the mix of reality and symbolism simply did not work for me, although I know I am in the minority.

message 278: by Carolyn (new)

I know what you mean as I'm doing the same (but reading from #1 only the ones I've missed) and haven't got very far at all yet! My hubby has started reading them, and he'll probably pass me!

message 280: by Phrynne, Series Queen! (new)

Phrynne | 15803 comments Mod
I'm doing it too and making reasonable progress! I still try to fit him into challenges. Pity he doesn't live in Aussie..........

message 281: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80009 comments Mod
Wouldn't that be good! But he's often out here apparently - he loves Australia...

message 282: by Phrynne, Series Queen! (new)

Phrynne | 15803 comments Mod
But not enough to qualify him as an Aussie author:(
I saw him speak once in Sydney. He was very entertaining. Do you think all these authors take a course in public speaking? Or maybe pay someone to write funny stuff for them to say?

message 283: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80009 comments Mod
They probably have good memories and can repeat what they continually hear! Don't know...but I'm envious that you saw him speak!

Never a fail in our challenges Kerrie :) How many did you read? Because if you read three, you've read the minimum anyway:) Good luck with May...
