Foreman Paris’ April Challenge

Aloha! I’m headed to Oahu in April, so I thought it would be fun to make my April challenge all Hawaii, all the time.

There are no page minimums required. Re-reads are allowed. Read as many or as few as you’d like. You can also read more than one book for each fact below.

Happy Reading!!

1. Hawaii was the 50th state to join the union. – Read book 5 in a series.
2. Hawaii is the only state that grows coffee. – Read a book with a character that can’t live without coffee or one who works in a coffee shop.
3. There are only 12 letters in the Hawaiian alphabet. Vowels: A, E, I, O, U Consonants: H, K, L, M, N, P, W - Read a book with a title that starts with one of those 12 letters.
4. Oahu’s island color is yellow. Read a book with a yellow cover.
5. Iolani Palace is the only royal palace in the United States. - Read a book with some kind of royalty in it.
6. One-third of Hawaii’s best surfing beaches are on Oahu. - Read a book with a character who surfs or goes to the beach.
7. Waikiki attracts 72,000 visitors each day. That is 44 percent of all visitors on all of the islands. - Read a book where someone goes on vacation to Hawaii.
8. Honolulu’s first Public Library containing 130 volumes, opened in 1879. Read any book you’d like (bonus points if it is a library book).
9. More people live on the island of Oahu than in the entire state of Alaska. Read a book with a character who lives in Hawaii or an author who lives there.
10. Hawaii is made up of 132 islands, 8 main ones and 124 smaller ones Spell out Hawaii, Oahu or both using author, title or series
