Emily yes there should be a sequel for sure!!

Audrey My fear with a sequel is that if Nicola Yoon didn't mean for there to be a sequel and we pressured her into one, it would end up forced and tainting an already incredible story. I would absolutely love a sequel, I can't get enough of Olly and Maddy, but to quote another great stand-alone novel "some infinities are bigger than other infinities".

Also, of you're as obsessed with Everything, Everything as I am you'll love Yoon's other novel The Sun Is Also A Star! It's spectacular! I can't put it down!

Gracie Please Please write another book to this one i read this book in less than a day because it was so good it normally takes me like three days to read a book so please write the next book it will be my everything haha anyways so please write another i love your books so much!!!!!

Elizabeth Nevin Honestly it's one of those amazing books where I would love a sequel(more plot, more romance between Olly and Maddy, maybe more backstory), however it doesn't need one and anything else added on just sorta ruins the quick and short novel that we all fell in love with. You know what I mean?

I completely agree with this.

Gabriela I feel like the book wasn't written to have a sequel. For example, I am really obsessed with The Selection series by Kierra Cass. Cass intended on having more than one book, so she wrote out the ending so it could continue in another book. Because the book Everything Everything had a good ending, I feel like trying to add more when there's no need would just ruin it. I read the book, I watched the movie, so I think I'm done obsessing over it.

message 57: by Mia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mia Yes, there should be , I want to hear how the relationship between Madeline and Olly grow or tear apart. I also would love to hear how school is going for her since it is her first time in school, and how her and her moms relations ship goes after everything that happened.

Sally It would be very nice if there would be a sequel. I want to now how Olly and maddy develops their relationship and what happens with whole "maddy wasn't really sick" situation with her mum.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. I got the book as an early Christmas gift and finished it in a day and a half. I literally just finished a half hour ago. I loved it so much and was so disappointed when it was over. I really do think there should be a sequel. There is so much left that could be told. I also feel there are a couple of holes that need to be filled in.

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes yes yes there should be a sequel!

message 61: by Lulu (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lulu So for me, I really enjoyed reading this book. But I think there shouldn't be a sequel. Like others said before, I too can't imagine what that sequel should be about.
I think in this case we should leave on a high note.

EbonyRae Everything Everything was amazing, but I also think it was a complete story. I finished the first book with the impression that Maddie was going out into the world, excited to adventure and experience life to its fullest. As much as I'd love to hear more about Maddy and Olly, I think the air of possibility that the book ended with was better than a sequel could ever be ... If anything, I think that trying to define her future in a 2nd book, would almost put a limit to that. That said, if there was a sequel, I would most assuredly have to read it ;D haha

Idalis Rayne I want there to be a sequel

Shelby yes! i definitely think there should be a part two! i instantly fell in love!! and i want more !

I agree that I worry about sequels. Sometimes I think it's best to just leave well enough alone. I have read books where I love the couple and I am happy with the ending, then the author writes a sequel and ruins everything. I was fine with the way the story ended. I wish that there would have been a little bit more. I wish that it would have skipped ahead to them together for several years and see what their life is like. I would have been satisfied with an epilogue that skipped ahead a few years.

I don't feel that there needs to be s sequel and I would worry that the story would get ruined with tons of necessary. drama. I can't deal with love triangles and that could happen if there was a sequel. Drama comes with sequels and I worry about what the drama would be. If you love the couple, I feel like you should just let them be happy. Sometimes wanting another story become a "be careful what you wish for" type thing. I'd be fine with a bonus short story or something like that. I have just been down that book road several times before where an author just has to write a sequel and ruins everything. I like to just envision Maddie and Olly happy and together.

message 67: by Hope (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hope Mckenney I would love a sequel. Seeing more of her exploring a world that she has only touched from a computer and tv screen her whole life. there is so much opportunity there.
Do I think that the author will do a sequel? No. After reading the sun is also a star I actually really love the common trends between her novels in uncovering mysteries within a romance and I feel like she is really great at displaying diversity in her work. The question here should be- can we get another book soon? and when will we get a movie for the sun is also a star?

I just got the Sun is also a Star but haven't read it yet. Maybe someday there might be a movie for that. I liked the movie version of Everything, Everything although some of the movie was weird the way they shot the astronaut stuff etc... I think that they did a great job for the casting of Maddie and Ollie.

I don't want a sequel for Everything, Everything b.c. I like to envision Maddie and Ollie happy together. A lot of times when an author writes a sequel for characters it just gets ruined. I want them to stay together. I can't even deal with love triangles anymore. I do wish that there would have been an epilogue that skipped ahead several years at the end of Everything, Everything. I understand wanting another book b.c. we didn't get to really see Maddie's life after she went out on her own. There were a lot of questions at the end of the book.(view spoiler) I did want to see more of Ollie/Maddie as a couple b.c. it seemed over so fast. I loved them together. I loved their quirky awkward romance.

I completely agree with you in the sense of worry when it comes to the sequel and having just solved a plethora of problems that arrived and then afterward reading another book after the ending was so perfect that you worry what else the author could possibly mess with. This is my current worry with the tiger's curse series by Colleen Houck. She is releasing the fifth book in the tigers curse series where I feel like the ending was perfect as it was. And after so long I have come to accept that ending like accepting my old car and its damages. Maybe, just maybe, the car isn't perfect. The car functions great and I love it but I like to think that if the maybe out weighs the solace that the end brings in elliminating the majority of the mystery that is the summit of where I would like to see a sequel.
So I have a question.
What other series have you read that had the sequel frustrate you this way (education purposes and avoidance purposes) I am honestly curious.

eating acid I think a short story showing a snippet of their everyday lives and some Olly+Maddy fluff would be great, but as for a whole book.... I think Everything Everything is good where it was wrapped up

Elizabeth Warbeck I for one would LOVE a sequal. Just to see what their life's would be like after discovering that she didn't have an illness.

message 72: by Sara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Sara Narro R. A sequel would be great, but in Olly´s POV. Like if Yoon writes the book in Maddy´s POV , we already know what might happen: how she tries to forgive her mother, her relationship with Olly, etc. BUT, if the book is in Olly´s POV it can´t be as easily predicted as the Maddy´s POV. Because we can get to know his reaction about Maddy not being sick, his family issues, ect. (sorry if my english is bad)

Elizabeth Warbeck Sara wrote: "A sequel would be great, but in Olly´s POV. Like if Yoon writes the book in Maddy´s POV , we already know what might happen: how she tries to forgive her mother, her relationship with Olly, etc. BU..."

I completely agree with this. It would make it alot more interesting if we could delve more deeply into his characters personality. Although it will take some getting used to. Sometimes when they do that in books (switching the pov's) I kinda have to remind myself that its this person now, not the other person.

message 74: by Sam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sam I feel that the book stands great all by itself. Books written to be standalone books should remain standalone books. Not every novel can be made into a series and this is one of those books. It's pretty obvious that, based on how this book ended, how her life will continue. This book was pretty predictable as it is, the sequel would be just as predictable.

eating acid Sarah wrote: "I feel that the book stands great all by itself. Books written to be standalone books should remain standalone books. Not every novel can be made into a series and this is one of those books. It's ..."

That's exactly how I feel!

I totally agree with you.But even if the sequel would be in Maddy's POV I think that it would be also great, because Yoon made characters that I really love so I would not mind a sequel in Maddy's POV or Olly's POV.

Cerys I think it would be good to see how Maddy adjusts, does she ever forgive her mum? Will she move out with Olly? Will her mum be admitted into a psychiatric unit for what she did? I would love to know what happens personally but I'm one of those people who likes to know what happens after the story has ended :)

Rawan Douh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....s
I really want to know how Maddy is coping with her disease free life

message 79: by Thunder (new)

Thunder Cooper I have never read the book but I saw the movie I want the sequel to the movie to happen so bad really bad

Rosie I don't think there should be a sequel some books are better to not have a sequel and this is one of them i think the author ended the book perfectly and the sequel wouldn't be as good as the first book like most other books.

Maddie I don't think there should be a sequel because I feel like it might ruin the first book because it ended so nicely and I wouldn't want it to end any other way.

✨ Aaron Jeffery ✨ I’d love a sequel to everything everything

Paige No there should not be a sequel for Everything Everything. Yes it was a good book but it is a book meant to being only one book. A sequel would just destroy it.

message 84: by England (new) - added it

England Absolutely.

Yessssss, the book was amazing, but I was so sad when it ended in a book store. There should absolutely be a sequel so we can know what happens next. But, the only problem is, a lot of good authors use all of their good ideas on their first book, so if the author made a sequel, it would have to be every bit as good as Everything Everything.

And the author of Wonder, I think the sequel of Everything, Everything should be like Auggie and Me, but have different people who have different illnesses and how they are learning to live life. But of course, with all books, there has to be a twist in the plot that really WOWS the reader. The "WOW" point in Everything, Everything was when Maddy found out that she wasn't sick. But again, if their is a sequel, the "twist" in the plot shouldn't be finding out that a character isn't sick... It should be a "twist" that says "WOW!!! That was unexpected".

So yes, they should make a sequel. Absolutely.

message 85: by England (new) - added it

England And yes, Olly and Maddy should be explored more. There love for each other is priceless, and it would be nice to have a twist on their relation ship.

Olivia Another book would be wonderful

Linnea I really like the book but NOT the end! It was just a boring way to end the story and just make it seem as Nicola Yoon had lost all her great ideas. (don´t understand me wrong; I really like Yoon&her books but just not the very last sides of this one book)
usually I would agree not to make a sequel because a good book is only a good book if it makes me think about it but in everything everything there´s too much open. I want to think about a book because it´s interesting and not because the author has no ideas anymore. So this was a great book but it´s end opens enough doors to have an interesting sequel that I would love to read to give me a better aftertaste of Maddy and her story ;) I´m so interested in her future!!

message 88: by Lisa (last edited Feb 27, 2018 01:13PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa I would like to see a sequel from Maddy's mothers perspective, and from Olly's mother. I think that would be interesting. As for Maddy and Olly I don't really need to know what is happening with them. When I finished the book, I really wanted to know more about Maddy's mother, yes we all know she had some mental instabilities however, I would have liked to get into her head for a bit.

message 89: by Bridget (new) - added it

Bridget I just finished reading Everything Everything and I loved it, but I thought it ended really abruptly. I think the author should write a sequel to answer the questions left from Everything Everything. For example, what is going to happen to Olly and Maddy's relationship now that she's not sick, and how is Maddy's immune system going to react to New York city since its so weak from being inside her whole life.

emimae i think that the book finished well, and tied up all the loose ends.
i would certainly read the next book if it came out, but what would it be about? all the strings are tied. creating a whole new complication might disrupt the characters and leave out some parts form the first book.

Clara I feel like there should be but if there was I don't know how good It would be. It would have to be as good as this one for me to read it

Breanna Graham I would love another book of Maddy's and Olly's adventures in New York I love their story and would love to learn more. I would also love to see Maddy's mom and how she is doing. I would buy this new book in a heartbeat.

LydiaA I completely agree. Not to be really Cliche here but the book is called Everything, Everything for a reason. That's the whole story. The fact that what happens next is unknown contributes a lot to the plot and theme of this story. Making the next part known would only detract form the characterization of Maddy. I'm not saying that a sequel couldn't be really good. I just think that it would detract from or be irrelevant to the original plot.

Yes, I totally agree. The plot was resolved in the first book and making a new one would really just ruin it

I would love a sequel to this book. However, I don't really think that Ms. Yoon would make another one. Also, the book ended on a great note.
