City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)
by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book was loads better than the first in the series; I still didn't quite enjoy this book enough to give it a five star rating, but definitely enjoyed
it more than book one. The plot is more solid, with plenty of scenes that were either filled with emotion, action-packed, or entertaining - sometimes more
than one of those at once. Also, it was wonderful to see some excellent character development, which we got to see a great deal of in this book. I look
forward to seeing what will happen in book three, and how the characters will continue to develop throughout the rest of the series.

I've started The Stone Sky and I'm also deeply engaged in The Poisonwood Bible right now.

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3)
by Cassandra Clare
My rating:
5 of 5 stars
Excellent read! This is so far my favourite of the series. So many feels, and so much going on... i’m loving the character development, and there were
quite a few questions from the first couple of books answered in this book too. Plus, it had a wonderful ending.

Have you read the whole series? I'm currently almost done with book four.

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)
by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I enjoyed this book, but didn't love it. It was nowhere near as good as book three, and took ages for anything to actually happen. To be honest, it's only
the exxcellent last few chapters that stopped me giving this book only three stars, and if I could give half stars my actual rating would be 3.5 stars;
this book only gets four stars from me because I always round up.

More 4-star ratings for Shuri, Vol. 2: 24/7 Vibranium, Die, Vol. 1: Fantasy Heartbreaker, and The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother.
3.5 stars for Reticence, a great fan-servicey ending for a fun series.
I DNF'd The Fountains of Silence yesterday (which makes me wary of picking up Out of the Easy), but I started Timekeeper and Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland in the meantime, both of which are fascinating.
