I just finished The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2) by Rick Riordan

It was ok for me but not overwhelming. I think it was a little too young. Do the rest of the books get better as we go?

Yes, and the more you learn about "the prophecy", the better it gets. I really liked the 4th book in this series.

The next series that starts with The Lost Hero feels older than the first series as well I thought. But what I really loved was the action and mythology in all of these books.

But then again, I love children's books. They contain so much wisdom, if you look for it. One of my favorite quotes ever:

"You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children." --Madeleine l'Engle

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments Reading Life First (Life First #1) by R.J. Crayton the first of a three part (so far) series. It is good. Seems my reading has slowed down. So much to do, but when I am inside during 100 plus degree days I can read and watch Netflix. Or Amazon.

I finished Summer Days & Summer Nights Twelve Love Stories by Stephanie Perkins ! Loved it! Thoughts on the last stories I read:

"Love is the Last Resort" by Jon Skovron--5 stars, adored this story!
"Good Luck and Farewell" by Brandy Colbert--3 stars, just an okay one for me.
"Brand New Attraction" by Cassandra Clare---4 stars, definitely an interesting one!
"A Thousand Ways This Could All Go Wrong" by Jennifer E Smith--5 stars, loved this story! Sometimes simple is best.
"The Map of Tiny Perfect Things" by Lev Grossman-- 4 stars, its sort of like Groundhog's Day but way better!

I finished Alive (The Generations Trilogy, #1) by Scott Sigler It was okayyyyy. I liked most of it, but thought the ending was pretty rushed and anticlimactic. Considering whether to read book two, Alight. Anyone read it?

Now I'm reading Girl on a Wire by Gwenda Bond Anyone read it?

I started a reread too! (although I actually sort of have been rereading it for the last few weeks to prepare for the reading marathon LOL!) I can't get enough of this story, though!

Still reading Lady Knight (Protector of the Small, #4) by Tamora Pierce (so good!) and going to be starting Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments Finished Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore last night. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it either, but... I dunno. There were certain things about the book I liked. Kat and Po weren't on the list haha. In the end, it wasn't awful, but finishing it felt more like a chore than a hobby.

Next I'll probably try Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard but I'm not fully committed yet, so I may pull a switcheroo at the last minute.

I read the description of Fire(book 2) and it sounds incredibly different and is focused on a new character. Plus I think Oda said it was the best in the series, so I'll trust it's a better book. I'll probably check it out, but not right away.

Aww. Yes the Three graceling books have different feels and feel uniqe, so you might like one even if you dont enjoy them all. But they arent closely related(they take Place years apart). No hurry.

Fire was my favorite, but I LOVED them all. I'm not kidding. Total love for this series! I got really into it, the world and the characters. The pages flew by for me! Most people I've talked to who love this series actually like Graceling best. Go figure!

I really think the audiobook for Graceling is what made me love it more. I know a lot of people who loved Fire more than Graceling - I think it is a matter if you connect with Katsa or Fire. Fire is more emotional and not as kick as as Katsa. I personally prefer Katsa/Graceling but I know a ton of people who preferred Fire.
