What are you doing in Korea? I must have missed it. I love Korean drama's.

message 1302: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Visiting family and traveling, Heidi. I'm originally from Korea, so it's nice to visit once in a while. I don't watch any dramas, but my mom does. Did you watch Descendants of the Sun? It was huge during the winter.

Oh I see! I feel like I have been to Korea with all the drama's I have watched from there! I have not watched Descendant's but I do plan to because it was supposed to be the best drama of the year. I mostly watch romantic comedy type shows. I have two favorite Korean actresses I love (in a platonic way) and have watched most of their shows (Park Shin-Hye and Kong Hyo-Jin). They are the best!

There must be a large Korean population in Canada. I met two Koreans who now live in Canada on my trip to Ireland and there are several Korean actors who were raised in Canada what are on some of my drama's. It is always weird to hear a perfect English accent on the K-drama's and so I look up the actors who speak prefect English when that happens and a few were raised in Canada. I notice Korean's like to use English words a lot in general (on shows - in their music).

Harlee | 1583 comments I've been in a book slump for awhile so I started rereading The Raven Boys series so I can finally read The Raven King! I'm about halfway through The Dream Thieves, ahhh it's my favorite! :)

Rham (Reads and Wanders) (rhamichu) | 115 comments Heeey Descendants of the Sun! Filipinos are big fans. It's even shown in local primetime tv now haha. Haven't watched it myself but I see it in social media all the time :D

Starting Steelheart today. That Prologue was one long backstory. Lol

Rham (Reads and Wanders) (rhamichu) | 115 comments @Harlee Dream thieves is my favorite out of the 4 too! (I might be biased though, cos Ronan haha!)

message 1307: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Yeah Heidi, there's a pretty big Korean population in Canada. In Toronto alone I'd say there's at least 50000-100000. I prefer Korean variety shows (King of Mask Singer, Running Man, Infinite Challenge) to dramas, though Uncontrollably Fond is OK. Do you watch with subtitles?

message 1308: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments My plane back to Canada is tomorrow, so I'll see you guys back over the pond! On page 75 of Nil, which I'm enjoying so far. I'll read more over the plane.

Yes I watch with subtitles. I only recogize certain Korean words at this point. I am watching Heirs right now with the main actor from Uncontrollably Fond :) It is a bit too angsty for me but the actor from Uncontrollably Fond is excellent in it. I prefer shows with non school aged characters since I am older myself so that doesn't help either. I have yet to watch Running Man but hear about it a lot. Safe travels to you!

Finished Oryx and Crake (MaddAddam, #1) by Margaret Atwood at 4ish this morning. I woke up at 3 and couldn't go back to sleep so picked this up to finish. I really liked it although definitely bizarre.

I am about to continue with The Year of the Flood (MaddAddam, #2) by Margaret Atwood . Nancy, I'm sure I'll finish this weekend. Did you still want to buddy read MaddAddam (MaddAddam, #3) by Margaret Atwood ? I already pulled a copy from my elibrary. ;)

Nancy (paper_addict) Karen, you are too funny!

I am halfway through with The Knife of Never Letting Go.

I not good at juggle reading but I can probably start MaddAddam tomorrow. Maybe by tomorrow morning I'll be finished with TKONLG. Unless you want to wait until you are done with your Philippa Gregory book. ;)
