Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I'm currently buddy reading The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn, #1) by Renee Ahdieh with @Harlee and @Donna and my IG friend Brooke! I have just reached Chapter 4 and its pretty good so far!

I'm also still reading Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys , which is also very good!! It initially took me a while to get into this book and I actually put it down for a week and then picked it back up and am now enjoying it! I'm such a mood reader!

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Just finished:

A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic, #1) by V.E. Schwab

Really liked it! Cool world-building and characters, and it was very addicting and suspenseful. I look forward to reading the sequel.

And now I'm starting:

UnSouled (Unwind, #3) by Neal Shusterman

I don't know why it's taken me so long to get around to reading this! Hopefully it's just as awesome as the first two books. :)

message 120: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments Just finished Golden Son (Red Rising, #2) by Pierce Brown
It took me a long time to get into it (nearly 100 pages), and I nearly gave up, but both Wendi and David encouraged me to keep going. And I'm so glad that I did.
There came a moment in the book where the action picked up--and it never stopped. I liked this one way more than the first.
So many twists--and a huge reveal. Can't wait to get my hands on Morning Star (Red Rising, #3) by Pierce Brown

message 121: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin (caitlinsiem) | 409 comments @Brigid - the sequel, A Gathering of Shadows, is so amazing! I absolutely loved ADSOM and I was mostly just hoping the sequel would be nearly as good and Schwab blew me away with AGOS. Honestly, I like it even more than the first and that's saying something! I can't wait for you to read it!

I love that book! But I get what you mean––the writing can be dense/confusing at times. I think part of the problem is that at the time he wrote it, Dickens was paid by the word ... so there's quite a bit of padding in the writing, haha. :P The story/characters are great, though.

Yay! Be prepared to read the 4th Unwind book immediately after this one as it ends at the most random place because the author originally planned to only have three books. THe 3rd and the 4th books, when taken together, are EPIC. SO GOOD.

Yeah I've heard book 3 is basically a stepping stone to get to book 4, lol. And so far it kinda feels that way. But I'm excited to read the fourth one, I've heard it's amazing! :)

This weekend I plan to re-read:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater

Not sure if I'll get to both, but I'm going on a bit of a road trip with my family––so I'm hoping to finish at least one of them. :P
