Confessions of a Murder Suspect (Confessions, #1) by James Patterson

Just finished...
The Assassin's Curse (The Assassin's Curse, #1) by Cassandra Rose Clarke
an ok read. Most likely will read the next book because this one does end on a cliffhanger.

message 1755: by Harlee (new)

Harlee | 1583 comments @David I read that series earlier this year and I absolutely LOVED it!

message 1756: by Harlee (new)

Harlee | 1583 comments I started reading Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco on Halloween but I set it aside. I finished The Call by Peadar Ó Guilín yesterday and really liked it. I just started And I Darken (The Conquerers Saga, #1) by Kiersten White today and I'm already halfway through it, I am loving it!

message 1757: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I have been so anxious over the last months of this election. No, I don't want to talk about that. I have found that I cannot stay with any book. I get less than halfway or so and cannot focus on it. I am not finishing books much. I am listening to one that is almost finished. I am skipping genres even. So I think I will not meet my book reading goal this year. I heard someone else here say they were having a reading slump. Me too.

It has been that way for a long time for me. And it doesn't look like it is going to change so I have to get away from it, turn off my TV.

Harlee | 1583 comments @Donna I've been in a slump for most of this year, and I started a new job at t beginning of the year so without a miracle I won't meet my reading goal either haha

I used to read 200 books per year and this year I will hopefully read 50. It happens. I am just focusing on the fact that I am still reading - too many people out there never read :)

I'm almost finished with the audio of The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey . It's definitely interesting but it's taking me forever to get through. I should finish tomorrow.

And then finally get to start the audio of Ice Country (The Country Saga, #2) by David Estes Yes!!

I almost put TGWATG aside so I could jump into Ice Country when otnreleased but was afraid I wouldn't pick it back up. Glad I stuck with it. But am so ready for IC now!

I was in the minority on TGWATG. I did not love it like most everyone else. It was a solid read and I loved the beginning but the end lost me and I never really fully identified with any of the main characters enough to fully invest in it.

I listen to books when I run, every morning for three or more miles. So I just let it roll and listen. I also have blue tooth in my car so I listen while I am doing errands too. Sounds like you didn't like as much as I did. Oh well.
I just finished WOLVES, by D.J. Molles Wolves by D.J. Molles and it was very hard edged, a dystopian story about a man in an apocalypse who has lost everything and is after the group of slavers who killed his wife and took his daughter. Now I am listening to THE BODY READER The Body Reader by Anne Frasier which is really good so far.

Donna, I did like The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey but I've been in a sci-fi phase lately and had a tough time switching to zombies. Just haven't been feeling zombies lately. But, I liked how it was a unique take on this genre! I have about 10 minutes left. I was soooooooo close to finishing this afternoon but had to stop listening to get an errand done. Grrrrrr... ;)

I've been so stuck in sci-fi these past few weeks, but plan to try to pick up A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes, #2) by Sabaa Tahir again. I started it awhile ago but I haven't been able to read much fantasy lately either. I think I'll be fine if I can get past a few chapters.

Has anyone else read it yet? I loved An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1) by Sabaa Tahir !

message 1772: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments It is a totally different take on the genre I thought. I have had a hard time finding anything to hold my attention. I'm on a true crime book now, Bind, Torture , Kill.

I hear ya! I get stuck in a certain genre and only that genre can hold my attention. I've done that with apocalyptic, historical fiction (Tudors), zombies, etc.. I end up going back and rereading all my favorites of whatever genre is grabbing me. ;)

Kela Esther | 101 comments I just finished these books in less than 48 hours. Rebel Mechanics (Rebel Mechanics, #1) by Shanna Swendson Rebel Magisters (Rebel Mechanics, #2) by Shanna Swendson Some people could probably do it in less time, but I'm such a slow reader. I couldn't put them down, they were so fun to read!
