Catherine Bruno | 771 comments Finished Gemina last night. I liked it, but didn't love it like I did Illuminae. I found it to be too long and some parts of it were a bit cliché. I'm going to start Heartless tonight and I'm excited!

I was not as in love with Illuminae as most others - it was good don't get me wrong - your comment makes me wonder if I would like Gemina.

Finished reading Replica (Replica, #1) by Lauren Oliver and I liked it, but it had flaws and I don't think it was Oliver's best work. But still a page turner and unique format and concept!

Next I'm reading Aerie (Magonia, #2) by Maria Dahvana Headley , so excited for this sequel, I loved Magonia!

Rham (Reads and Wanders) (rhamichu) | 115 comments Okay, I know I promised I will start reading Ready Player One last week, as per your suggestion to end my slump, and I did! But I had to put it down for a while because my friends and I are buddy-reading The Crown's Game (The Crown's Game, #1) by Evelyn Skye . We're reading 14 chapters a day and now on Day 3. The 'game' and the magic surrounding the main characters are very interesting. :)

Finished Replica (Replica, #1) by Lauren Oliver Victoria by Daisy Goodwin and Four A Divergent Story Collection (Divergent, #0.1 - 0.4) by Veronica Roth . I think I rated them all 4 stars. All were enjoyable reads!

About to start Scythe (Arc of a Scythe, #1) by Neal Shusterman and started Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1) by L.M. Montgomery last night. Nope, I've never read Anne of Green Gables but watched a special on PBS on Saturday and realized I loved it and HAD to read the book. I helped my granddaughter with her book report on it a couple of years ago which peaked my interest but just never got around to it. ;)

Love all of the Anne of Green Gables books. And the miniseries with Megan Follows as well.

Also really love "The Story Girl" and the sequel by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Everything that woman wrote is fantastic! (That I've read anyways!)

I finished Ashes (Seeds of America, #3) by Laurie Halse Anderson , fantastic end to a great series! Now back to The Amber Project (Volume 1) by JN Chaney until my next library book comes in :) The Amber Project is an awesome read for those who haven't tried it yet. And the author is a really good guy and friend of mine. He's up and coming in a big way!

message 1887: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments Just finished Okay for Now by Gary D. Schmidt and it ended up being one of the best kid's books I've ever read. It's definitely not dumbed-down in any way and doesn't read like a kid's book.

After a few books that I couldn't get past the first chapter (or the first page, in one case), I'm now starting A Thousand Nights (A Thousand Nights, #1) by E.K. Johnston The first few chapters were promising. *fingers crossed* that it stays good! :)

So glad to see everyone is finding some good reads!

I finally finished The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and I liked it quite a bit. It had some nice twists, although I really did not like any of the protagonists all the much. But I did feel sorry for them, they did not deserve what happened to them.

Also finished my reread of Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo , so good!

Also read The Magnolia Story by Chip Gaines and I absolutely loved it. Very inspirational!

Next I'm reading The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4) by Rick Riordan

They definitely are! I started reading him as an adult, lol, but I was reading them with my kids, trying to get them excited about reading. We loved those first Percy Jackson books so much :) I have very fond memories of them.

message 1896: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments I think the first Percy Jackson book came out when I was in middle school so that's when I first read it, haha. :D I still love that series all these years later; I think I've read them all at least three times if not more. They just have such sentimental value for me! And all my younger siblings love them, too. :)

My kids were 13 or so when we read them, but the whole series was out, so they weren't brand new. We read a book a month that year, and we all had so much fun with it!
