I liked the idea of creating time travel through virtual reality and data analysis.

Before you build another city on the hill, first fill in the potholes at your feet.
We do things when it is our time to do them. They do not occur to us until it time; they cannot be resisted, once their time has come. It's a question of time, not motive.

"In attachment is death."
This is a rather pessimistic view.
"Communications create trade."
I read this to be more than physical trade of goods but also ideas, friendships, thoughts etc.
"The survivor is the one who improvises, not follows the rules."
Hannah certainly followed this idea.
"she'd equated being happy with not being unhappy."
Maybe a lot of people feel this way unknowlingly.
Lastly
"A fool flexes his muscles. The wise man hides his strengths."
humility and modesty are good characteristics.
Just writing these I can see there were some real nuggets of knowledge in this novel.
