9. If you could ask the author a question, what would you ask? Have you read other books by the same author? If so how does this book compare. If not, does this book inspire you to read others?

This is the second novel that I have read this year as a member of this group no less that attempts to explain Nathaniel Hawthorne's inspiration for the Scarlett Letter. The first was The Cloudsplitter and now this. My question would be is there any truth to this story and its influence on The Scarlett Letter or was the author just embellishing here.

Also how much of the Indian history is true.

I would ask here why she didn't have more information about The Scarlet Letter book. It seemed lacking in that area to me.

I would ask why she didn't spend more time revealing Hannah to us. Or she could have included the husband Gabriel more. Maybe emulate a novel that shifts narration from one character to another.

Yeah, I guess I would want to know, "why?" Did it start as something that was supposed to connect with Scarlet Letter, or did that just happen? Why the weirdness from Hannah, the main character? Why the diamond? Why the sci-fi-esque time travel computer program? It just seemed like a strange mix of things for a novel, what was tying it all together?

I'm in the same boat as Philbartu here, too many loose ends for a novel that could have been more interesting.
