The first time I read TMAM, it was in Portuguese. Then I saw this edition in English that called my attention because it is a paperback (I love them) with great cover design which is the Vintage Magic edition. It was the first time I bought a book from this publishing house, so I do not know what to expect...

I bought my copy last year, I think, on a whim. I just figured out I also have the Vintage Magic edition published in 2003 (black-red combination, with a cool illustration of the Devil in the back whispering to someone).

If I'll be reading it, it would be the French mass paperback version.

Samanta, that's the one I have

message 6: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 1 comments I put in a request for the audiobook, the book (Penguin publisher) with beautiful artwork of a woman with a cat, and the book with a cover of a man with a cigarette and a banned symbol on the cover (Knopf). All English versions. Whichever one comes first from the library I'll go with.

Eleanor (emfarrell) I first read this book as part of a 20th Century Russian Lit (in translation) class at Michigan State, too many years ago to mention. :-) I used a mass market pb edition Mirra Ginsburg translation (falling apart now, and in storage). I just picked up a "new" copy at a used bookstore: 1967 Signet pb, translated by Michael Glenny. Looking forward to the reread!

Pedro Henrique | 36 comments I am reading the portuguese version by alfaguara, just started it! I hope it fits me well! :)

Pedro Henrique | 36 comments Just realized that in the brazilian edition the book is divided only in two parts parts..the first one goes from chapter 1 to 18, and the second one the rest of the book..

All editions are like that, Pedro. We just split the book into more parts here, so people can engage the conversation more frequently and taking less chances of running into spoilers.

Pedro Henrique | 36 comments Oh cool! :) Didn't realize it, since allt he previous books here had the same divisions as the book. But that's definatelly a great decision! ;)

You are right, Pedro. The other books helped us because they were divided into more parts. Since TMAM was in only two, with at least 14 chapters each, we felt it was better to push it for a subdivision. Glad you liked it!
