Maybe it's just me, but to complain about the lack of a strong female character is to miss the entire point. I'm only a little past the halfway point of the first book, but Misha is a character surrounding himself with what he wants. His growing wealth has allowed him to insulate himself from some of those individuals who would try to compete with him. Even the men in his life, while totally capable, are identified as people he considers "safe."
As far as the women, it's really no surprise he surrounds himself with what the reviewer might consider weak women, when he is someone who hires prostitutes to entertain his party guests, and he takes advantages of those women who gravitate toward the money.
Never mind that you're describing a country with such poverty that women have to choose partners based on their ability to support them and not based on love, but you're presenting us a character who is somewhat reprehensible in how he rises to power, and unfortunately a strong female sidekick only weakens the character you're presenting to us.
I think you sum the whole issue up when Misha brings the American banker into his organization. Misha throws all these wild parties with drugs and women, and the American is uncomfortable with it all. That segment of the book, for me is an acknowledgement that you're presenting a situation that is culturally different from what many of us are accustom to.
I'll admit his lifestyle does not appeal to me - I'm off the mindset of the American banker. However, it is sort of like a train wreck. Misha is morally reprehensible, but you just can't look away.

Just wanted to be realistic.
Rumors aside, don't know much about Putin's divorce background, but media covered Abramovich's example of replacing wives is not such a rare instance.
Admitedly, there are real strong female characters that treat men like Misha does women.... The story is not about them though.

Here's one for Miss Catherine's blog:

In a sense, it's like a corruption textbook -:)
My only hope is that the readers will come out understanding and despising it more rather than see it as a shortcut to significant gains

They too deserve a little exposure. The least I can do is to provide some cyber space here, if anyone would want to share an interview, blog post or whatever hosted by blogger, fellow author or a major TV channel.
It's a bit immodest to start with my own stuff, by I don't have anyone else's, so here's an interview hosted by Troy Jackson:

Thank you, Troy!
