Ben Mariner Maybe this is a dumb question or there's a topic about it somewhere here that I'm not seeing, so forgive me if this is redundant.

I wanted to throw together a collection of short stories and offer it permafree, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. I know a lot of people have posted their permafree book links in another thread and I'd like to join the fun!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ken (kendoyle) | 364 comments Normally, you would make something permafree by publishing it elsewhere and setting the price to zero (like iBooks or Nook), then asking Amazon to price-match. Obviously, the book should not be enrolled in KDP Select.

However, lately Amazon has been less inclined to price-match free books, probably due to the huge glut of them on their servers and getting no revenue in return.

I've heard of a few instances where they've even threatened to close down the author's KDP account for violating the terms of service, so proceed with caution.

Ben Mariner Cool, thanks for the info, Ken!

Lincoln Cole | 22 comments At the very least you would prefer that other people mention the price difference (so it doesn't look as much like you trying to game the system) but if the price difference is reported, amazon will set the price to zero.

Amazon plays hardball about basically everything if they feel like it, so just keep that in mind.
