Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments Yeah! Almost, kind of, somewhat on time today! Woohoo!

For your next challenge, dear readers, we're going to get a bit musical!

You know how your favorite movies often come with great theme songs too? Theme songs! You know, like these awesome movie/theme song combos:

The Breakfast Club - Don't You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds
Rocky III - Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
8 Mile - Lose Yourself by Eminem
Saturday Night Fever - Stayin' Alive by The Bee Gees
Titanic - My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion
The Bodyguard - I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston (and, well, Dolly Parton too.)
Frozen - Let it Go by Idina Menzel

And, lets not forget the theme song to end all theme songs...

Dirty Dancing - (I've Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes

So, we want to know...

If they made one of the challenge books you've read into a movie, what would be the theme song on the soundtrack and why? Don't forge to tell us the book. ;)

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments I'm gonna go with George by Alex Gino. I just finished this yesterday and loved it to pieces.

My theme song selection is Sara Bareilles - Brave.

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing's gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle 'neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

The book is about a transgender youth trying to show the world who she really is. She struggles with that and this song seems to capture the essence of that struggle and, ultimately, how she overcomes it.

Paula (itsnotavailable) | 11 comments My book is Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot, the last one in the Princess Diaries series.

And my song is Don't Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee

Nobody knows it
When I was down
I was your clown
Nobody knows it
Right from the start
I gave you my heart

The reasons why I chose this song are actually spoilers, so you can read them below.

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3268 comments This was a really tough one for me, but I actually found my idea by listening to one of my playlists while I was readind. The book I chose was Goodnight Tweetheart, and the song is Falling Fast by Avril Lavigne (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHbtN...)

While I was reading, the song seemed to really perfectly capture what was going on for the characters. In the book, the main character meets a man through Twitter, and they quickly develop a very strong bond. The lyrics become even more appropriate in light of what happens later on in the book, which I won't reveal in case anyone is interested in reading.

Here are some of the lyrics I found most fitting:
You came by without a warning
You put a smile on my face
I want that for every morning

I'm falling fast
I hope this lasts
I'm falling hard for you
I say "Let's take a chance"
Take it while we can
I know you feel it too

Francesca | 780 comments I've chosen the book Rats Saw God and the theme song would be Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTWKb... . This was an easy choice for a few reasons.

1) Steve (the main character) loves Nirvana.
2) The book is set in the 90's.
3) It's teenage angst wrapped up in a song and that's what the book is primarily about.
4) The lyrics fit surprisingly well.
5) It suits Steve and his personality and it matches the over all tone of the book.
