The Drawing of Three, by Stephen King

The Dark Tower is special in King's work as it's the series to join them all. I prefer its fantasy touch, I'm not fond of King's horror books.
GR synopsis:
The Second Volume in the Epic Dark Tower Series … The Drawing of the Three
While pursuing his quest for the Dark Tower through a world that is a nightmarishly distorted mirror image of our own, Roland is drawn through a mysterious door that brings him into contemporary America. Here he links forces with the defiant young Eddie Dean, and with the beautiful, brilliant, and brave Odetta Holmes, in a savage struggle against underworld evil and otherworldly enemies.
I am currently reading this for a secondary challenge. I enjoyed the first book, and so far, at about 45%, am enjoying book 2 as well. I struggle with them a little bit though. I do not struggle with the writing because that is awesome, and it's not really the story that I struggle with, becuase so far, everything I've read is great. It's more that I struggle with the expectation of Stephen King. I have read a lot of his work, and the Dark Tower series is very different from anything else he has written. It's still typical King quality, I just keep waiting for killer clowns, killer dogs, killer kids, killer cars, killer moms and dads, killer anything to jump out of the pages and start going on a supernatural rampage. I doubt that will happen in this series, and I like that, but I keep waiting for it. I have a lot of respect for King and this series.
I am hoping to have this one done today or tomorrow.
