2016 - Readathon Seven Date: April 23rd, 2016 - 8PM - Midnight - Check-In - THIS IS CHECK IN FOUR

Please let us know who is reading during these this period of time.

Let us know the following:

Name of Book and Author:
Genre:
Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period.
Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.
How much time did you read:
Did you complete any books - name of book and author
What time zone and location are you in:

So for example:

The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott
The Jewel in the Crown (The Raj Quartet, #1) by Paul Scott by Paul Scott Paul Scott - Genre: Historical Fiction - pages start 1 - finish 80

If you finished a book - let us know that too and make sure to get it added to your readathon shelf so you can get credit for it. If it is added properly it will show up on your shelf. You have to make sure to have selected a readathon shelf and when you are done with the first book for your readathon - make sure to add the completed date and that the book is read versus currently reading.

It will show up on your shelf if you have done this properly.

Remember wherever you are you can participate in the readathon.

And if you only have one hour or four hours or plan to do this for the entire 24 hour period taking of course breaks for eating and sleeping - you can join for however long you want to read. We want to keep track of the books completed, the books started, the books in progress, the number of pages read by all, and the different genres. Great fun and this is only the fifth readathon - we will use the same readathon challenge for all of them so you can see your readathon shelves grow.

Additionally these books that you complete on the readathon can be added to other shelves for the Japan or India challenge or the 2016 50 Books Challenge or the goodreads yearly challenge - the sky is the limit. Any genre is welcome.

Remember folks this is the check in for anybody reading during the hours of 8PM until Midnight on April 23rd, 2016 (wherever in the world you are - use your time zone). If you want to get credit for any reading done during these four hours you must check in on this thread - Checkpoint 4. But for the check in to count - you must post between the hours of 8PM until Midnight on April 23rd in the time zone that you are in. This is the Checkpoint for those hours on April 23rd. To get credit for these hours this is the thread and CHECKPOINT you must post on. THIS IS CHECKPOINT 4

REMEMBER AT LEAST ONE CHECK-IN MUST REFLECT THE FOLLOWING TO BE COUNTED IN THE READATHON AND OF COURSE YOU MUST CHECK-OUT AT THE END.

Make sure to answer the following:

Name of Book and Author or books and authors:

Genre or genres:

Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period.

Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.

How much time did you read during this block of time:

Did you complete any books during this time frame and what were they?

Also, your location in the world and timezone

Folks everytime we do this we always find folks who want to participate but fail to join and set up their shelves properly so that they can get full credit:

You must join!

Very important:

How To Join In: - Go here first: https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...

Click on the title at the top - The HBC Readathons. Please then join by simply signing in at the bottom and say how many books you plan to read for one or more of the readathon dates - there will be six readathon dates throughout each year; then create your own personal shelf to add the books which you would like to tackle during one readathon or more readathons. That is all there is to it and goodreads will keep track. Become your own marathoner in reading books on the readathon dates and we will keep track of your progress in terms of titles of books, number of books, number of pages, and different genres. Give it a whirl and see how much reading you can get done and take a stab at that big "to be read" pile of books that we all have.

Note: Don't forget to set up your shelf first and then add the name of that shelf here when setting up the challenge for your readathon.

And here are some links to the Readathon folder which will be updated:

YOU MUST CHECK OUT AT THE END WHEN YOU ARE DONE - CHECKPOINT SEVEN - READATHON ENDS 8AM ON APRIL 24TH, 2016

Everybody remember - no matter if you checked in on only one checkin - 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 - it doesn't matter - if you even had only one checking in - checkpoint or 6 checkpoints or somewhere in between - EVERYBODY MUST CHECK OUT.

You must Check out on Checkpoint Seven - THE ONLY CHECK OUT THREAD - HOPEFULLY BY NOON TODAY YOUR TIME.
(Although we try to be understanding - if you fell asleep - smile)

Savannah - look above you in message one- just do a copy and paste of any folks checking in and put in your own stuff. HOWEVER IT IS TOO LATE TO BE CHECKING IN ON A SUNDAY AT 9PM ON ANY CHECK IN CHECKPOINT FOR ANYBODY.

First cite the book - what I usually do is to bold the book title above the citation like this:

Principles of General Chemistry

Principles of General Chemistry by Martin Silberberg by Martin Silberberg (no photo).

Second to participate you must have checked in to at least one of the check in checkpoints - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (DURING THE READATHON NOT AFTERWARDS) - if you did not do that - then the readathon cannot count for you - I am sorry. However if you have done that and I haven't looked at the final tally and have filled out at least one Check in Template somewhere ELSE - then you can get credit for the readathon by checking out ON CHECKPOINT SEVEN WHICH YOU MUST DO.

THIS IS A CHECK IN AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ONLY DURING THE READATHON WHICH IS LONG OVER and this is mandatory.

Also it appears that you have only read 20 pages and only stated that totally you read for an hour and a half so that makes me wonder what Check In Checkpoint (OTHER THAN THIS ONE AFTER THE FACT) you hit and I assume that this is only one - if you can cite one other - which I hope you can then you can let me know.

You did not complete a book so that answer is zero

And you have 1 book in progress

So this is what a Check IN Template would look like for you. I honestly thought at first that you were checking out late until I realized that you were on a Check In Checkpoint!

Principles of General Chemistry

Principles of General Chemistry by Martin Silberberg by Martin Silberberg (no photo)

Genre: Science - Textbook - 1
Start Page - 1
Final Page Read - 20
Total Pages Read - 20
Total Time Reading - 1.5 hours
Total Number of Books Completed - 0
Total Number of Books in Progress - 1
Location/Timezone: Tennessee, USA - EST

Savannah - tell me which checkpoint and which thread you signed in on other than this one and what post number. I will verify and update your template. If you did not check in - then the readathon does not count.

If you forgot to check in - then tell me during which time period you read the 20 pages in your text book and I will allow you this time to go back and add the information on that thread in a Check In Template (or is this the only one?).

But we need to get everything done correctly. If I do not hear from you and you do not have a Check In Checkpoint completed somewhere else then I cannot add you to the list of readathoners this time but you can try next time. Either way let me know how I can help you. And have you checked out? That is also mandatory - Read during the readathon hours and check in on the checkpoints during the designated time. You have to do this with at least one Check In Checkpoint - Then finish on time and get your Checkout Checkpoint completed by 12 Noon by the next day. You can hit all six checkins and one mandatory check out or do one checkin or something in between PLUS the mandatory Checkout. But always these are done during the readathon. Being in Tennessee - you should have finished this check in no later than Midnight last night.
