This is a team reading challenge that will run from May 1st to May 31st inclusively. Results will be announced on June 1st.

For this challenge we will be going back to basics, and that means counting how many pages we read ☺

To earn points in this challenge, all you need to do is read and review your books as normal, and tell us how many pages you have read! At the end of the challenge pages will be converted to points at 5 points for every 1000 pages read. Buddy reads will continue to earn extra points ☺ The team with the most points at the end wins!
- books with pictures, middle grade books, poetry books, and graphic novels will all only count for 33% of their page count on goodreads due to the lower word count per page.

This challenge will be a team challenge. When signing up please let us know if you want to join a 'Serious' team (reading 12 books or more), a 'medium' team (reading 8-12 books) or a 'Just for fun' team (reading any number of books). You may also choose to only take part in the 'solo' part of the challenge (those people in teams will be automatically entered into the solo challenge as well).

Teams will be picked on April 25th, and team threads opened. Each participant will need to comment on the team thread, confirming that they are 'ready' for the challenge to start, by 0:00 May 1st (Goodreads time). If you do not confirm that you are playing, you will be removed from the team.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF OUR SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT RULES AND POINTS FOR THIS CHALLENGE.

Points:
• 5 points for every 1000 pages read.
• 1 point for buddy read of a book with 200-449 pages.
• 2 points for buddy read of a book with more than 450 pages
(Bonus points for buddy reads will only be given if the buddy read has taken place in our group, and the book read is over 200 pages.)

Rules:
• Books must be read between the 1st of May to the 31st of May inclusive.
• Books can be any length, but must be over 200 pages to count for a buddy read point.
• 1 re-read is allowed.
• Our regular challenge rules can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

CallMeSensei I am currently trying to finish up Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle, #1) by Diana Wynne Jones ...I'm at the 60% mark right now.

I did read The Cellar by Minette Walters on Sunday... so that's one book down! I just need to write up a review.

I'm currently participating in the #AYEARATHON readathon this week to finish or catch up on some series... My tentative TBR for that is Whispers at Moonrise (Shadow Falls, #4) by C.C. Hunter The Map of Bones (The Fire Sermon, #2) by Francesca Haig Houdini's Last Trick (The Burdens Trilogy #0) by David Khalaf The Sweet Far Thing (Gemma Doyle, #3) by Libba Bray Not sure that I'll make it through all of these but I'm working on it!

Next week is also Bout of Books 16.0 which I intend to participate in... I don't have a TBR yet for that or for the rest of the month but I do have a couple of library books out that I want to get through and a book on loan from my boyfriend's mom so I might try to get through these.

I'm also currently listening to 1984 by George Orwell on audiobook so I want to finish that by the end of the month. I'm only about 30% through it right now.

message 30: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 1307 comments Sorry, I haven't posted for awhile, I've been really busy the last couple of weeks with uni work. I finished The Boy with Words by C.E. Wilson earlier today and I am no reading When We Collided by Emery Lord which I am not loving at the moment. I hope to get another couple of books read before the end of the month. What is everyone else reading?

message 31: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 2404 comments So sorry I've been awful with reading this month am redecorating and literally passing out daily before I even sit down to read, will try to get a few in before the end but I can't promise anywhere near my normal amount sorry team :(

message 32: by CallMeSensei (new)

CallMeSensei I'm currently trying to get through

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Enlightenment (The Driel Trilogy Book 1) by Liz Keel
Assassin's Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy, #1) by Robin Hobb

before the end of the month. I'm not sure if I'll make it through all of these but...

message 33: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 1307 comments How are you liking Great Expectations by Charles Dickens ? It is one of my favourite classics.

CallMeSensei Kirsty wrote: "How are you liking Great Expectations by Charles Dickens? It is one of my favourite classics."

I've read the abridged version of GE a long time ago and wasn't much of a fan of it then.

I wanted to give it another go, though, because I like a lot of Dickens' other works but to be honest, I'm finding it tough to get through.

I don't much care for Pip's dismissal of his friends and family for a higher class (although, it's not unrealistic) and I hate his obsession with Estella, when she treats him like crap. I am intrigued by the convict side of the story, though, and am hoping that will go somewhere!

message 35: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 1307 comments @CallMeSensei: I really enjoyed it but I haven't read any of Dickens' other books yet although they are on my TBR. Which is your favourite Dickens novel?

message 36: by CallMeSensei (new)

CallMeSensei I really love A Tale of Two Cities. It's been awhile since I've read it and I'm considering a reread.

message 37: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 1307 comments @CallMeSensei: I have his books on my TBR but I just haven't got around to them yet.

message 38: by Stella (new)
