Paul O’Neill Hi all. This will be my first ever group read. Can't wait to hear your views. Already flying through this book. I really should read more Harlan Coben, his characters always seem so realistic. Got this on audio, January Mcavoy does a great job so I'd recommend it.

It certainly starts out with a bang! I also love a writer who can make me HATE someone so much. You'll know who I mean....

Paul O’Neill Anybody else nearly cry at the end? Just me?

For me, this book delivered as expected. Few twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I gave this a four star rating and will be reading more of Coben's books in the near future.

Great site!!! Love the music that they play & learned so much about the triangle. I'm going to keep listening to Simon Mayo's DriveTime. Thanks so much Kirsten :-D

Paul O’Neill Anybody else finished this yet? What did you think? Is this Coben's standard level of work? If so I need to read more of his work.

Paul O’Neill Haa!

Ng | 2 comments This is the first book I "read" by Coben. I actually listened to the audio book and the narrator was great. I enjoyed the book and the twists and turns. Just when I thought I had things figured out, I was wrong and that kept me intrigued. I was very surprised by the ending. I guess there's always that part of me that will want things to end the way I imagined they would.

ReneE (reneaz) I'm very interested to see what others have to say about this book. The only really positive for me is that it did hold my interest. The mystery was just intriguing enough to keep me turning pages; however, I found the writing to be a little "blah", and the characters very stereotypical and one-dimensional. I would give it 3/5. It was okay. It was better than his last few books -- didn't care much for "Missing You" or "The Stranger" , and really, really didn't like "Six Years".

Paul O’Neill It's only my second Coben book. I enjoyed The Stranger better, but they were both the same for me. Tightly written, good plot, gripping narrative.

What are his best books?

I haven't ready anything from Coben except for 1 Myron Bolitar book, which I didn't really like. But, others on this site have told me that some of his best work is in his stand alone books. However, I need some recommendations before I'll venture into reading anything by an author that I've not had a good experience with. So, yes, what are his best books?

message 18: by Icewineanne (new)

Icewineanne | 725 comments Deal Breaker & Drop Shot were apparently terrific. I came late to his writings & was not impressed.

Maureen Carden | 125 comments I like Myron better.
Yesterday I read Fool Me Once. I was taken by surprise at several points, which is always nice as long as the surprises don't come out of left field. I don't know if this makes sense, but if Coben was a woman I think it would have ended differently and better. Hasn't he written another book where someone supposed to be daid (sic) pops up? I read Coben, but I don't buy Coben.

message 20: by James (new)

James Peyton | 20 comments "Fool Me Once" is a perfect description of my reaction to my first Coben book. Sure the ending was a surprise but only because the protagonist lied to readers throughout the entire story. I may read another one but I won't have paid for it!

Maureen Carden | 125 comments I wish I paid better attention to the ballistics time-line. I think if I had I might have figured out she was an "unreliable" narrator.
