Which edition will you be reading this book? Which language?

Sara (scody) | 53 comments I'll be reading the Kindle version for now -- I reserved the print version at the library, but it's been slow to arrive so far, so Kindle is my back-up plan. I'd rather have it in print, though... if it turns out I really love it, I'll just buy it.

Samanta (almacubana) | 183 comments I'll read it on my e-reader. Couldn't find a printed copy in the library.

I got a 1974 pocket Penguin book edition. Physically going back in time (with the yellowed pages, the old-book smell, etc.)

Pedro Henrique | 36 comments Couldn't find it anywhere so far :( not even a pdf to read it

Jenny Garland (jennygarland) | 37 comments I'm reading the Penguin Decades version on my Kindle and I've bought a second hand copy of Billy Liar on the Moon.....with the yellowed pages and the old-book smell too Cynthia.....I think both have advantages.....the e-reader goes everywhere with me as it's on my phone too but the printed copy has a charm of its own.

Peter (petersface) | 80 comments I happened to find an epub version, so that is helpful. No printed copies for this one.

I love that old book smell!

I got the Kindle version. I just don't have time to go out to a book store or a library (even if I can reserve it online, I still have to physically go there to pick it up).

Peter, can you share where you found the epub edition?

Sara (scody) | 53 comments I finally got the printed copy from my library, a month after placing it on hold. I suspect it hasn't been checked out in many years, so perhaps it took some time to locate! It's the 1st American ed., published by Norton in 1960.

I also found an epub version. If anyone wants it send me your email addresses.

Nigeyb I read the 2013 Valancourt Books reissue - complete with the lovely, original jacket art….

"Billy Liar" is every bit as good as the film. The sense of time and place are stunningly evoked, and each character depiction is convincing and vivid. Brilliantly written, Billy Liar perfectly captures that moment when adult responsibilities impinge on teenage dreams, as Billy attempts to avoid responsibility, and rise above conformity and mediocrity. A mere 150 pages, this book is an enduring classic - funny, provocative, and profound.
