WRITING CONTEST
Duration: May 1 - May 31, 2016



We know you love to read, but we're sure that some of you love to write as well. This is your opportunity to show off your talent!

For this activity, write a one-shot, vignette, or very short story and share it with us here. The story can be about anything - the only catch is that it must involve the number 10,000 somewhere in the piece.

Please post your stories by May 31. After that, we'll put the stories in a poll for everyone to vote on. The winner will receive a $10 gift card to their favorite online book retailer (Amazon, etc.).

Do we just post the stories here on this thread?

You can do that, or you can post a link to it if it lives somewhere else on the internet (like a blog post or public google doc).

So, I was just curious- how short is short? I am considering entering something that is about 2,500 words. That is towards the lower end of most contests, but there was no specifications and I don't want to have it be too long for you guys. Thanks!

Normally, I tend to go for fantasy/sci fi in my writing so this is completely different. Hope everyone likes it.

I haven't been as active on Goodreads lately as I'd like to be, but I just came here to say that I just read both short stories and they are incredible! Good job both of you, I really wish I could choose them both!
