DHASG May Challenge

Introduction: May is here! It's a fun month with lots of bright colors and wonderful spring weather. Let's hope your reading is just as vibrant.

Rules:

1. Any DHASG member can participate in the challenge.
2. Books must be read between April 1st and April 30th.
3. A book may only be used once for this challenge.
4. Post or link to your final stats when you are completed.
5. In your stats, list book name, title and date read. Unless obvious, include why you choose a certain book in parentheses in your stats.

Levels:

1. Five by Five: Read 9-12 books.
2. Take Five: Read 5-8 books.
3. Gimme Five! Read 3-4 books.

Categories:

1.High Five: Since May is the fifth month of the year and Cinco de Mayo is a holiday this month, let's celebrate five. Read a book that has five letters or words in its title, an author who has a first or last name with five letters, the fifth book in a series, or even the fifth book published by the author.
2. Mom's Rock!: For Mother's Day on May 8th, honor mothers by reading a book with a story that involves mothers and their relationships with their children, or the concept of motherhood.
3.Wildflower Power: In honor of Wildflower Week, the 2nd week in May, read a book with a title that includes the name of a wildflower, a prominent character with a wildflower name, or a book written by an author with a wildflower name, or even a book has a wildflower(s) on the cover. Here is a list of wildflowers:

http://www.wildflowerinformation.org/...

4.For the Love of Nurses: The first week of May honors nurses. Read a book with a prominent character who is a nurse or in which a lead character nurses another character in some fashion.
5.Mother Goose Day: May 1st is Mother Goose Day, a day to celebrate the Mother Goose Tales and Rhymes we have been told and tell our kids. Read a book that represents or retells a Mother Good rhyme. Here is a list of Mother Goose Rhymes:

http://www.mothergoose.com/Rhymes/Azr...

6.Baby Fever: Baby Day is May 2nd. Let's celebrate babies by reading a book with a prominent baby storyline or in which a baby is a major plot point of the story. You may use a pregnancy book as long as the baby is born during the book.
7.Friday the 13th: The only Friday the 13th this year is in May. Read a book that represents Friday the 13th in some way. You tell us how.
8.National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day: May 15th is a holiday in the US to celebrate these cookie favorites. You can represent these cookies by doing any of the following: Read a book where someone bakes or eats chocolate chip cookies, there is a CC cookie on the cover, something great happens to the lead character by accident (these were invented by accident), read a book with a character named Ruth (inventor's name), read a book with a lead character who is in the military (favorite of troops during wartime). If you can think of another way, let us know. List of other facts about CC cookies:

9.Pack Rat Day: On May 17th, we show props to the pack rats we know and love (maybe even ourselves). Read a book that has been in your tbr or collection way too long (at least six months).
10.Lucky Penny Day: This is May 23rd. Read a book where a character is named Penny (or author's name), or a book that cost you less than $1.00 (you paid pennies for it). You could also read a book with a prominent character who is red-headed (like the copper in pennies), or a policeman (aka Copper).
11.All that Jazz: The Saturday of Memorial Weekend is devoted to celebrating jazz music. For this day read a book that has a title reminiscent of one of the most popular jazz songs ever recorded. You could use the author's name or character name, or if the book has words or phrases from the titles, or some other way (let us know how). Here's the list.

12.If I Had a Million Dollars...: For Be a Millionaire Day on May 20th, read a book where a lead character is at least a millionaire if not more.
